A wireless wind-powered anemometer comprising: a wind reacting device; a rotatable shaft in communication with the wind reacting device; an ac generator in communication with the rotatable shaft, and where the ac generator is configured to produce an ac voltage that is generally directly proportional to wind speed detected by the wind reacting devices; a signal conditioning and transmitter circuit in communication with the ac generator; and where the signal conditioning and transmitter circuit is configurable to communicate with a wireless network, and where the signal conditioning and transmitter circuit is supplied with power from the ac generator. A wireless wind-powered anemometer comprising: a plurality of conic cups; a rotatable cap fixedly attached to the plurality of conic cups; a shaft fixedly attached to the rotatable cap; a shaft housing rotatably attached to the shaft, and configured such that the shaft rotates with respect to the shaft housing and the shaft housing remains stationary; a first bearing in communication with the shaft and the shaft housing; an electronic housing fixedly attached to the shaft housing; an armature located within the electronic housing and fixedly attached to the shaft; a stator/circuit board located within the electronic housing, fixedly attached to the electronic housing, rotatably attached to the shaft, and configured such that shaft rotates with respect to the stator and the stator remains stationary; a top side of the stator facing the armature; an under side of the stator facing away from the armature; a plurality of coils located on the armature; a plurality of magnets located on the top side of the stator; a second bearing in communication with the shaft and the stator/circuit board, and configured to allow the shaft to rotate with respect to the stator/circuit board; a transmitter located on the stator/circuit board; and an antenna in signal communication with the transmitter.

Wind-powered wireless (RF) anemometer

A conductive refractory compound coating for electrodes is sputter resistant, very resistant to oxidation, and easy to apply by way of electrophoresis or screen printing. This structure is further enhanced by the presence of surface particles of electrically nonconductive ceramic material. When the cathode electrode is energized, electrically nonconductive material is penetrated by the electric field, which attracts secondary electrons out of the cathode electrode, thereby increasing the cathode's efficiency as an emitter of secondary electrons. More specifically, cathode electrodes are used in a plasma addressing structure. The coating is formed by approximately 5 nm particles, each comprised of a fused matrix of conductive and nonconductive particles co-deposited with frit particles by either electrophoresis or 'silk' screening. The coating is subsequently baked to fuse the frit and bond the electrophoretically deposited particles to the electrodes.

Sputter-resistant conductive coatings with enhanced emission of

A refractory compound coating (188) for electrodes is sputter resistant, has a low work function so that it is a good emitter of secondary electrons, is very resistant to oxidation, and is easy to apply by way of electrophoresis. More specifically, cathode electrodes (162) are used in a plasma addressing structure (10). The coating is preferably formed by electrophoretic deposition of particles (184) of at least one refractory compound along with a frit. The coating is subsequently baked to fuse the frit and bond the electrophoretically deposited particles to the electrodes.

Sputter-resistant, low-work-function, conductive coatings for cathode

A plasma addressing structure having data storage elements (16) uses an ionizable gas to store data in and read data out of the storage elements. The storage elements are defined by the overlapping areas of multiple column electrodes (18) extending in a common direction on a first substrate (22) and multiple channels (20) extending in a common direction on a second substrate (24). A layer of pliant dielectric material (26) separates the first and the second substrates, which are positioned face to face and spaced apart with the direction of the channels transverse to that of the column electrodes. Each of the channels is filled with an ionizable gas and includes two electrodes (46 and 48) electrically isolated from each other. The ionizable gas functions as an electrical switch. The storage element includes a layer (32) of liquid crystal material and receives incident image-carrying light.

Plasma addressing structure having a pliant dielectric layer

A plasma addressing structure functioning as a display panel (52) includes an ionizable gas captured within a network (110) of intersecting channels formed by multiple spaced-apart islands (60) arranged in substantially parallel rows (62) projecting from the major surface (104) of an underlying substrate (64). The network of channels includes elongated channels (112) that are positioned between adjacent rows of islands, and spur channels (114) that extend between individual islands in each row and couple adjacent elongated channels. The gas in the network of channels is selectively ionized to address display elements (54), which are aligned with the islands positioned along each of the island rows. Each island has a top surface or plateau (128) that is spaced-apart from and substantially parallel to the major surface from which the island projects. The plateaus provide a relatively large surface area for supporting addressing structure components such as a layer (68) of electro-optic material and a layer (96) of dielectric material.

A pattern of conductor runs is formed on a sheet of dielectric material using a carrier foil having a coating material adhered to one main surface thereof. The coating material contains particles of metal. The carrier foil is placed with its coated surface in contact with the sheet. The coating material is detached from the carrier foil over selected areas of its coated surface, and the detached coating material is adhered to the sheet.

A selected pattern of conductor runs is formed on a sheet having a surface layer of dielectric material, by forming an electrostatically charged image of the selected pattern on the surface layer. Toner powder, comprising core particles of conductive material coated with fusible dielectric material, is deposited on the surface layer and is fused to the sheet.

A method for making a faceplate for an electrostatic printing tube involves the positioning of the faceplate at an angle with respect to a collimated light source so that the pins embedded within the faceplate act as a mask to provide shadowed areas which prevent positive photoresist on a transparent conductive coating adhered to a surface of the faceplate from being exposed to light. The photoresist exposed to light is removed and the conductive coating is etched except where the nonexposed photoresist is located thereby forming elongated conductive pads electrically connected to respective pins. The nonexposed photoresist is removed and the conductive pads are plated with a suitable secondary electron emissive material.

Faceplate for an electrostatic printing tube and method of making same

A single pass multicolor thermal transfer printer for recording color images on plain paper by transferring spots of different colored materials from a carrier sheet as it and a sheet of paper are moved across a printhead in contiguous relation. The printhead includes a plurality of individual thermal elements that are selectively energized in timed relation to transfer colored materials from discrete areas of the carrier to the paper as the sheets pass over the printhead. The carrier includes separate, repeating patterns of four different color materials--three primary colors plus black--permitting the formation of multicolor images by energizing the appropriate elements as areas of the desired color materials are moved into registration with them.

A cathode ray tube is provided with a faceplate having a phosphor screen for visibily displaying information thereon and is also formed with an image transfer means along an edge of the faceplate. When it is desired to record the visibly displayed information from the phosphor screen, the information is scrolled along the image transfer means which transfers the image to a recording medium whereon the image is recorded.

Preferential etches for Gallium Arsenide and Gallium Aluminum Arsenide materials provide a novel single crystalline layer thin film of GaAs for use as a free standing transmission secondary electron emitter or as a photocathode layer on an intermediate epitaxial layer of GaAlAs. Etching of a central area of a substrate layer of GaAs provides an annular rim supporting structure for the epitaxial GaAlAs and GaAs layers. A particular composition of hydrogen peroxide and ammonium hydroxide preferentially etches GaAs while hydrochloric acid preferentially etches GaAlAs.
