A method of diminishing the appearance of or effecting the removal or disappearance of seborrheic keratoses by the application of compositions containing a) one or more, preferably a combination of, dietary antioxidants and/or antioxidant sources, b) one or more hydrating agents and c) one or more keratolytic agents.

Compositions and methods for treating and removing seborrheic keratoses

Embodiments disclosed herein provide compositions, methods, and uses for treating skin wounds, including chronic wounds such as venous ulcers. Certain embodiments provide methods for treating a skin wound, where the entire wound is exposed to zinc, especially in the form of zinc gauze. Certain embodiments provide methods for treating a skin wound, where only a peripheral rim of the wound is exposed to zinc, especially in the form of zinc oxide gauze. Other embodiments provide wound dressings and wound dressing kits, where the dressing and dressing kits include central gauze free of zinc to contact a central drainage zone of the wound and a second zinc gauze to contact a peripheral healing zone of the wound. In certain embodiments, the central gauze is optional.

Wound dressing

A trap for spiders and other insects is provided. The trap is especially useful for catching brown recluse () spiders, whose bites are extremely harmful. The trap need not utilize chemical attractants or other behavior-modifying environmentally harmful chemicals, or food bait or lights to attract the spiders. The internal volume of the trap can be shaped as a triangular prism with open triangular faces and openings in the front. At least a portion of the floor is coated with bug adhesive. The trap can be packaged as a kit including a flat sheet that can be folded a three-dimensional shape. The fronts can include spaced vertical struts. Methods and kits for making using the traps are also provided.

Spider trap

Systems and methods facilitate segmenting a dermoscopy image of a lesion to facilitate classification of the lesion. A dermoscopy image is received from an image source; pre-processed; and segmented. Segmenting the pre-processed dermoscopy image includes applying a thresholding algorithm to the dermoscopy image. The thresholding algorithm includes at least one of a Huang auto-thresholding algorithm, a Li auto-thresholding algorithm, a Shanbhag auto-thresholding algorithm, an Otsu auto-thresholding algorithm, or an Isodata thresholding algorithm. A weighted border error metric is provided to allow prediction of whether segmentation is likely to avoid excluding portions of the lesion. A test is provided for determination of whether image inversion is needed for the methods to provide optimal borders. An iterative expansion algorithm is provided to for determine whether expansion is needed for the methods to provide optimal borders and to determine the degree of expansion needed for more inclusive segmentation.
