Improvements for use with tissue expanders are provided. A tissue expander includes: a selectively inflatable and deflatable shell that is configured to be implanted; and an access port for selectively inflating and deflating the shell, the access port comprising a sidewall, a base at a first end, and a membrane at a second end opposite the first end wherein the sidewall and the base of the access port are constructed of a material that is non-reactive with a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine; and a structure of the access port is composed of a material that has a rate of temperature change lower than that of human tissue.

Improvements for use with tissue expanders are provided. A tissue expander includes: a selectively inflatable and deflatable shell that is configured to be implanted; and an access port for selectively inflating and deflating the shell, the access port comprising a sidewall, a base at a first end, and a membrane at a second end opposite the first end, wherein the sidewall and the base of the access port are constructed of a material that is non-reactive with a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. In embodiments, the tissue expander includes a magnet at the access port. In embodiments, the magnet is configured with a physical size and magnetic force such that, when the tissue expander is implanted, the magnet is detectable by an external magnetometer sensor but is not detectable by an external dangle-magnet.

A system includes: a body including an internal cavity and an internal reservoir; a holder configured to hold an ampule and configured to be slidably received in the cavity; and a clip configured to connect to the holder, wherein the holder is configured to slide into the cavity to a first position when the clip is operatively connected to the holder, and wherein the holder is configured to slide into the cavity to a second position when the clip is not connected to the holder. A method includes manufacturing the system. Another method includes administering an injection using the system.

Improvements for use with tissue expanders are provided. A first aspect includes a tissue expander device provided with a colorant inside a shell before the shell is inflated with fluid, wherein the colorant mixes with fluid upon injection of fluid into the shell. A second aspect includes a tissue expander device provided with a tread on an exterior surface of the shell. A third aspect includes a system having: a computing device with a visual display screen; a detector connected to the computing device that is configured to detect a port of a tissue expander that is implanted under skin of a patient; and software running on the computing device that receives signals from the detector and causes the visual display screen to show a visual representation of a location of the detected port of the tissue expander.

Tissue expander improvements

Approaches for augmented reality systems and methods for administering repeated injections are provided. An augmented reality (AR) system for administering injections includes: an AR headset comprising a display that is configured to display at least one marker superimposed on a real-world view of a subject, the at least one marker being displayed at a user-defined location on the subject. The display may be configured to continuously display the at least one marker at the location on the subject as the real-world view of the subject changes. The marker may be generated based on user input received from a user wearing the AR headset. The location on the subject may be defined by a location of a marker device relative to the subject when the user input is received. The AR headset may include a face mapping system.

Augmented reality based injection therapy

Approaches for percutaneous blepharoplasty are provided. An electrosurgical device includes: a hand-piece; a tip connected to the hand-piece; and two needles extending from a distal end of the tip. The hand-piece is structured and arranged to connect to an electrical energy source, and to convey electrical energy from the electrical energy source to the needles in a percutaneous blepharoplasty procedure.

Percutaneous blepharoplasty device and method

Systems and methods for fastening tissue include a hollow element and an elongate insertion element. The insertion element has a delivery device including a cone, suture, and needle at a delivery end, and an anchor at an opposite end. The hollow element includes an engagement structure in its interior surface that permits movement of the insertion element through the hollow element in a first direction, and prevents movement of the insertion element through the hollow element in a second direction opposite the first direction. The engagement structure may include a braid or mesh that operates on a finger-trap principle. The hollow element may include an elongate element with a cone, suture, and needle at a delivery end, and an anchor at an opposite end. Alternatively, the hollow element may include a button that incorporates the braid or mesh.

Tissue device

A device including a self-locking suture including both a braided section and a monofilament section is provided. The monofilament includes a single strand. The braided section includes three or more strands that are intertwined or woven together. The terminal end of the braid is compressible to take on a radially expanded configuration. The braided structure is temporarily fixable in the open configuration providing a wide berth opening. A needle at the terminal end of the monofilament is insertable through the wide berth opening and pushed out through the back wall of the expanded braid, after which the braid can be pulled on to collapse it down onto the barbed monofilament. The construct may then be tightened onto the tissues to be joined, and the one-way locking mechanism between the braided trap and the directionally biased suture automatically engages. Another aspect includes a method of fastening tissue using the device.

Approaches for implanting a donor dermis (e.g., skin) in or on a patient body are provided. A device includes a piece of donor dermis and at least one tab formed in or on the donor dermis, wherein the tab is adapted for accepting a suture. A method includes manufacturing a device including a piece of donor dermis and at least one tab formed in or on the donor dermis, wherein the tab is adapted for accepting a suture. Another method includes fastening tissue using a device including a piece of donor dermis and at least one tab formed in or on the donor dermis, wherein the tab is adapted for accepting a suture.

Dermal tabs

Systems and methods for fastening tissue include a tissue fastening device comprising an elongate element and a delivery device including a cone, suture, and needle arranged at a delivery end of the elongate element. At least one of the tissue locking features and a tissue lock device are arranged at an end of the elongate element opposite the delivery end. The system includes a locking feature near the delivery end, and a lock device having a mating feature that corresponds to the locking feature. When the delivery device is passed through the lock device, the mating feature engages the locking feature and locks the lock device in an axial direction along the elongate element.

Knotless locking tissue fastening system and method

Self-locking knotless sutures and associated methods are disclosed. A system for securing tissue includes a monofilament and a braid having a fixed end and a capture end. A first end of the monofilament is connected to the fixed end of the braid. A second end of the monofilament opposite the first end is a free end. The capture end of the braid has a first opening and a second opening. The monofilament and braid are structured and arranged for the free end of the monofilament to be inserted into the first opening, passed through a tunnel formed by the braid, and passed out of the second opening, all while moving in a first direction. After insertion of the monofilament into the braid, the braid prevents movement of the monofilament in a second direction opposite the first direction to prevent the monofilament from being pulled out of the braid.

The invention provides systems and methods for sternum repair. A sternum repair device may include a central body, which may include a plurality of bands and buckles, such that a band extends from the central body and is received by a buckle component. The band may wrap around the sternum and the device may be tightened to keep the separate sternum pieces together. Various band tensioning devices, systems and methods are disclosed.
