A method for dispensing a product from an interior volume of a container to which a power assembly is secured, which includes rotating an actuator sleeve of the power assembly in one direction relative to the container to draw an amount of the product from the interior volume into a pump chamber and to pressurize the pump chamber, and temporarily depressing an actuator of the power assembly to dispense a portion of the product from the pump chamber through a nozzle for a duration of time during which the actuator is temporarily depressed. During the duration when the product is dispensed from the container, the power assembly does not rotate relative to the container, and the power assembly is never rotated in an opposite direction.

Method for dispensing a product from a container

A power assembly that can obtain duration discharge of product upon a single turn of an actuator sleeve to pressurize product and ready it for dispensing. The assembly includes a piston carried by a piston housing for reciprocation in a cylinder cup having a pump chamber. The actuator sleeve is connected through a clutch disc to a drive screw that is connected to reciprocate the piston housing and piston when the actuator sleeve is rotated. The clutch disc is operative to first disengage the actuator sleeve from the drive screw and then move a stem valve to an open position when an actuator is depressed to dispense product. The power assembly can be used with various energy storage devices such as springs, gases or elastics to exert pressure on product to be dispensed when the actuator is turned.

One turn actuated duration spray pump mechanism

A dual function aerosol valve assembly has a valve housing with first and second stem valves mounted for reciprocation within it. The first stem valve controls flow of gaseous propellant and the second stem valve is coaxially received within the first stem valve and controls flow of product. An actuator and nozzle assembly is connected with the stem valves so that the first stem valve is opened to admit propellant to the nozzle upon initial depression of the actuator, and the second stem valve is then opened to admit product to the nozzle. Closing of the stem valves is in reverse order so that flow of product to the nozzle is first interrupted and then flow of propellant is interrupted. A spring biases the stem valves to their closed positions. The valve housing is constructed to accommodate either a bag-on-valve system or a piston system.

An actuator and nozzle assembly for a dispensing device for dispensing product under pressure, wherein a product chamber is supported within an outer container and a source of pressurized air pressurizes the product to dispense it through the nozzle. A stem valve normally biased to closed position is opened by an actuator reciprocal on a coupling member that attaches the actuator to the outer container. A first valve controls flow of pressurized air to the nozzle, and a second valve controls flow of product to the nozzle. In a first position of the actuator flow of air to the nozzle is enabled and in a second position flow of product is also enabled. Release of the actuator first interrupts flow of product then interrupts flow of pressurized air.

Hydra-pneumatic system pump

A power assembly for dispensing product from a container includes a pump mechanism and an energy storage mechanism. The pump mechanism includes a rotatable actuating collar connected through an escapement mechanism with a drive screw with an externally threaded shaft engaged with internal threads in a piston. Rotation of the collar reciprocates the piston to store energy in the energy storage mechanism and to draw product into a pump chamber from which the product is dispensed. An actuator is connected with a stem valve to open it when the actuator is depressed, enabling the energy storage mechanism to push the piston back to its at-rest position to force product from the pump chamber and ready it for another dispensing cycle. Disengagement of the escapement mechanism when the actuator is depressed prevents rotation of the actuating collar. Different energy storage mechanisms can be interchangeably attached to the pump mechanism.

One turn actuated duration dual mechanism spray dispenser pump

A mechanically operated, one-turn actuation, duration spray pump mechanism for dispensing product from a container, wherein a cylinder is fixed to a cylinder retainer closure adapted to be attached to a container. In use, the cylinder extends into the container, and a splined shaft extends coaxially into the cylinder from a rotatable actuating collar connected to the cylinder retainer closure. At least one piston is mounted for axial movement on the shaft in sealed sliding relationship with the shaft and the cylinder. Interengaged structure between the piston and cylinder causes the piston to move axially within the cylinder to draw product into the cylinder and to store energy in an energy storage device when the actuating collar and shaft are rotated. The stored energy moves the piston to exert pressure on the product in the cylinder and dispense it when a discharge valve is opened.

A universal valve for the Foley type urinary catheter has structure which permits its use as a patient controlled drainage valve, as an interface from which to take sterile samples, and as a connection to a day or night collection bag all without removal of the universal valve from the Foley type urinary catheter. The universal valve may be open or closed by the use of a squeeze mechanism for patient control, or by movement of the threaded connection between the universal valve and a collection bag so that the universal valve is continuously open for drainage into the urine collection bag.

Mechanically pressurized dispensing systems are disclosed that are manually charged by the user and that dispense substances from a pressurized dispenser as an aerosol. The dispensing system comprises in various embodiments mechanical pressurization assemblies, and particularly an actuator assembly and a collar cap assembly. Preferred embodiments incorporate a spindle and a piston to mechanically charge the dispensing system when an actuator housing of the actuator assembly is manually rotated. Other dispenser systems are disclosed providing a threaded piston utilized in the mechanical charging of the dispensing system. Methods of pressurizing dispensing systems and other methods are also disclosed.

Mechanically pressurized dispenser system

A manually operated dispenser for medicated or non-medicated orally dissolving strips provided in roll form cuts portions of the roll to a predetermined size in the manner of the strips currently available in single sheets and housed in the vial shown in patent Des. 423,302. The roll of orally dissolving strips is stored in one portion of a disposable cassette. Manually operable spring loaded means causes the roll in the cassette to advance thereby peeling the medicated or non-medicated portion of the strip form a carrier layer and presenting the portion of predetermined strip length to a cutting blade, then slicing the strip from the roll. The waste carrier layer is stored in another portion of the disposable cassette.

Universal valve for foley type urinary catheter

A manually operated dispenser for medicated or non-medicated orally dissolving strips provided in roll form cuts portions of the roll to a predetermined size in the manner of the strips currently available in single sheets and housed in the vial shown in patent Des. 423,302. The dispenser includes spring-loaded structure rotating the roll and presenting material of a predetermined strip length to a cutting blade, then slicing the strip from the roll.

Dispenser

A mechanically pressurized aerosol dispensing system comprising a cap which houses a piston, an actuator moveably attached to the cap, forming together with the cap a dispensing head assembly, and an expandable elastic reservoir. The system is fitted over a standard container holding a liquid product, and includes a dip tube assembly to draw liquid into the dispensing head assembly, where the contents are released through the dispensing head assembly, via the aerosol nozzle and valve. A twist of the threaded cap raises a piston, thereby opening a charging chamber within the dispensing head assembly. This creates a vacuum with the resulting suction pulling the product up through the dip tube to fill the charging chamber. Twisting the cap in the opposite direction lowers the piston in a downstroke which closes the charging chamber, forcing the product into the expandable elastic reservoir where it is then discharged through the nozzle.
