A solar heating panel for converting the sun's rays into heat, comprising a pane of glass, a sheet metal panel behind said pane of glass in spaced relationship therewith, a peripheral hermetical seal between the pane of glass and said sheet metal panel, a vacuum in the space between said pane of glass and said sheet metal panel, said sheet metal panel having a blackened surface facing said pane of glass, and evenly spaced projections pushed out of the plane of said sheet metal panel having sharp points resting against said pane of glass to resist the atmospheric pressure acting on said pane of glass and said sheet metal panel, said blackened surface serving to convert the solar rays into heat to heat up said sheet metal panel, where the heat produced can be carried away by any conventional means, most conveniently by flowing air blown over the back surface of the sheet metal panel to heat a heat sink or a building.

Solar heating panel

A solar heating system for converting the sun's rays into heat, comprising a level heat absorbtive element whose underside is adapted to absorb solar radiation and to convert it into heat, the absorbtive element being provided with means to conduct the absorbed heat away to be used for heating, reflector means arranged below said heat absorbtive element adjustably positioned to project solar heat rays onto said absorbtive element, the reflector means being movable into an inoperative protected position when not in use, the heat absorbtive element being protected against heavy loss by an insulated housing trapping dead air underneath said heat absorbtive element and being adapted to allow heat radiation to pass from said reflector means to said heat absorbtive element.

Solar heating systems

A louvered hot and cold insulating window for admitting light to a building, characterized by the use of at least one pair of horizontally level superposed transparent panes sealingly held in spaced relationship to contain a layer of still air to serve as a heat and cold insulator, and structural means including light reflecting louvers arranged to sealingly support said transparent panes and to form a sash that can be selectively inserted in the walls of a building where in one position for use in cold weather the top of said pair of panes is facing the inside of said building and the underside is exposed to the outside of said building, and in a reversed position for use in hot weather said top is exposed to the outside of said building and said underside faces the inside of said building.

A load responsive proportioning valve for use on a vehicle having a source of hydraulic fluid and front and rear wheel hydraulically actuated brake systems, the assembly including proportioning valve means in one of the brake systems actuatable to modulate the brake pressure in that one system to provide for a reduced brake effect at the rear brake wheels relative to that of the front wheels to compensate for weight transfer during braking, the proportioning valve means including a piston member movable between positions opening and closing a flow path from the fluid source to the one brake system, bias means including a fluid spring providing a force to move the piston member toward one of the positions, and deceleration sensing means for controlling the magnitude of the fluid spring as a function of variations in the magnitude of deceleration of the vehicle, whereby the modulating effect of the proportioning valve means compensates for variations in loading of the vehicle.

Load responsive proportioning valve

A device for varying the proportion of brake pressure delivered to the front and rear brakes of a vehicle, and including a differential area piston for decreasing the proportion delivered to the rear brakes between the first and second inlet pressures, and an additional valve assembly actuatable in response to a predetermined pressure differential between the fluid pressure delivered to the piston and the fluid pressure delivered thereby to the rear brakes so as to establish a decreasing pressure differential between the pressure delivered to the front and rear brakes.
