An orthotic apparatus includes a leg securing member adapted for attachment to a wearer's lower leg. A resilient strut that flexes in the anterior to posterior direction has an upper end connected to the leg securing member. A heel member is connected to the strut lower end at the heel member. A foot member is connected to the heel member. The foot member has a heel end at the heel member and a toe end spaced horizontally from the heel end. The foot member also has a substantially rigid lower foot plate extending between the heel end and toe end and a substantially rigid upper foot plate extending between the heel end and toe end above and generally parallel to the lower foot plate. In certain examples the orthotic apparatus is integrated with a shoe.

Orthotic leg support apparatus

A prosthetic foot includes a heel member and a forefoot member. An ankle member receives the heel member and forefoot member shaft so as to allow the heel member and forefoot member to translate independently of one another.

Prosthetic foot with modular construction

A programmable prosthetic foot includes a heel member simulating a heel portion of a human foot. The heel member has an elongated heel member shaft extending in a vertical direction. The foot also includes a forefoot member simulating a forefoot portion of a human foot. The forefoot member has an elongated forefoot member shaft extending in the vertical direction. A sensor on the foot detects compressive force on the heel member shaft and/or forefoot member shaft during a step. An actuator on the foot imparts vertical translation to the heel member shaft and/or forefoot member shaft. An electronic controller in operable communication with the actuator includes program instructions for operating the actuator by imparting the vertical translation to the heel member shaft and/or forefoot member shaft as a function of the compressive force detected by the sensor.

Prosthetic foot with programmable movement

A prosthetic foot includes a heel member having a heel member shaft extending upwardly from a heel end thereof and a forefoot member having a forefoot member shaft extending upwardly from a toe end thereof. An ankle member receives the heel member shaft and forefoot member shaft so as to allow the heel member shaft and forefoot member shaft to translate in a direction of a wearer's leg in response to an upward force thereon. At least one compressible member is coupled to the ankle member and is in compressible contact with the heel member shaft and/or forefoot member shaft so as to compress in response to the translation thereof.

The vacuum orthopedic brace and method include the use of an inner sleeve or liner, and at least one rigid member. The rigid member includes a fabric liner or other porous material to act as a wick, and a gasket surrounding the wick material. A valve is preferably provided in the rigid member for drawing air from between the rigid member and the liner, i.e. to create a vacuum. Furthermore, an external, internal or integrated chamber or rigid reservoir is preferably included, and is in communication with the wick filled area between the rigid member and liner, to hold a vacuum.

Secure fit orthopedic brace having a vacuum chamber and associated methods
