A system includes a plurality of photovoltaic modules installed on a roof deck. Each of the photovoltaic modules includes solar cells, a first encapsulant encapsulating the solar cells, a frontsheet and a backsheet. The front sheet includes a glass layer. The backsheet includes a first layer and a second layer. Each of the first and second layers includes first, second, third and fourth edges. The first edge of the first layer is offset from the first edge of the second layer, the second edge of the first layer is offset from the second edge of the second layer, the third edge of the first layer is offset from the third edge of the second layer, and the fourth edge of the first layer is offset from the fourth edge of the second layer.

A system includes a plurality of photovoltaic modules configured to be installed on a roof deck and a plurality of roofing shingles. Each of roofing shingles includes a cap layer composed of a first polymer material, and a core layer underneath the cap layer. The core layer includes a first layer composed of a continuous fiber thermoplastic composite tape (CFT), a second layer composed of a continuous fiber thermoplastic composite tape (CFT), and a third layer between the first layer and the second layer. The third layer is composed of a second polymer material.

Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to photovoltaic module for use on a roof. In some embodiments, the photovoltaic module may include a solar cell and a polymeric continuous fiber tape. In some embodiments, the polymeric continuous fiber tape comprises a polymer and glass fiber. In some embodiments, the glass fiber is present in an amount greater than about 50% by weight based on a total weight of the polymeric continuous fiber tape. In some embodiments, the polymeric continuous fiber tape comprises an elastic modulus greater than 1 GPa and an optical transmission greater than 80%.

Roofing materials and related methods are provided. A roofing material comprises a first layer, and a second layer on the first layer. The first layer comprises a first thermoplastic polymer. The first layer has a first color. The second layer comprises a second thermoplastic polymer. The second layer has a second color. The second layer comprises a plurality of openings or a plurality of thermoplastic polymer pieces. The first layer is exposed through the second layer.

Roofing materials and related methods

A photovoltaic module including a surface and at least one spacer juxtaposed with the surface. The at least one spacer is positioned intermediate the surface and the roof deck. The photovoltaic module is elevated from the roof deck by the spacer to promote air flow underneath the photovoltaic module. The spacer is made from a material that provides impact resistance and walkability.
