Methods and systems for providing congestion-based scheduling in a network, based on device capabilities are provided. A method begins with receiving, from a first user device, a device capability message, wherein the device capability message comprises a number of receive antennas of the first user device for each supported frequency band. Next, a determination that the number of receive antennas of the first user device is not equal to the number of receive antennas required by the network operator for the assigned frequency band. Based on the determining, the method continues with prioritizing at least one downlink transmission to at least one second user device. The at least one second user device comprises the number of receive antennas required by the network operator for the assigned frequency band. The prioritization information is then transmitted to the first user device and the at least one second user device.

Congestion based scheduling based on device capabilities

Methods, systems, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium that provide a sanctuary antenna for mitigating FDD carrier degradation during TDD antenna sharing are provided. The method begins with determining that the carrier degradation will occur during at least one FDD receive signal slot in a FDD frequency band on at least one antenna of the TDD frequency band based on the at least one FDD receive signal slot coinciding with at least one scheduled TDD transmit slot. Then, based on the determining, switching at least one scheduled FDD receive signal slot from the at least one antenna of the TDD frequency band to a sanctuary antenna occurs. The sanctuary antenna is used for a duration of at least one sounding reference signal (SRS) symbol.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media herein provide for adjustment of a spectrum sharing allocation between devices operating on 5G and/or 6G technologies. An inter-operator scheduler receives common signals associated with 5G and/or 6G devices and determines time and/or frequency divisions and configurations to a shared technology spectrum to allocate spectrum resources. In response to determining an allocation of the shared spectrum, the shared spectrum can be efficiently shared among 5G and 6G devices in a dynamic and flexible manner.

Intra-operator terrestrial spectrum sharing in communication networks

Methods and systems are provided for modifying a downlink configuration of a user device in a cell to mitigate interference. The methods and systems assign, via a first cell site, a first bandwidth to the user device within a serviceable area of the first cell site. The first bandwidth is blanked such that the user device receives data on a second bandwidth that is a smaller bandwidth than the first bandwidth. In addition, the methods and systems determine that the first bandwidth has at least one interference measurement above a threshold. Upon determining that the at least one interference measurement is above the threshold, the methods and systems modify the downlink configuration of the user device to a third bandwidth. The third bandwidth is a smaller bandwidth than the second bandwidth.

Variable downlink configurations for co-located and non-co-located base stations

System and methods for allocating user equipment (UE) specific carrier bandwidth are described. A bases station may advertise cell specific carrier bandwidth and an initial bandwidth part that represent a subset of the carrier bandwidth available to the base station. A UE may respond with an indication that is has bandwidth capabilities that include a greater range of frequencies than those of the cell specific carrier bandwidth. In response, the base station may instruct the UE to use this greater range of frequencies as a UE specific carrier bandwidth, allowing the UE to operate using a range of frequencies that exceed the advertised cell specific carrier bandwidth.

User equipment specific bandwidths

System and methods for smart cell selection and reselection are described. A mobile device may attempt to camp on a cell in a tracking area that has advertised a particular frequency band. If the mobile device is unable to recognize an information element identifying a different subset of the advertised frequency band than that supported by the mobile device, the mobile device will store a record of the tracking area and the advertised frequency band and compare future cell information broadcasts to the entry, avoiding attempts to operate within cells in the same tracking area advertising the same frequency. In this way the mobile device conserves resources by avoiding actions in incompatible cells and avoids storing information about many cells by only storing the tracking area information.

Performing carrier aggregation with narrow bandwidth carriers includes determining that a spectrum block allocated to a sector has a bandwidth that is narrower than a threshold bandwidth, wherein the threshold bandwidth is based on a size of a synchronization signal block (SSB), configuring the spectrum block as a narrow bandwidth carrier, performing carrier aggregation with the narrow bandwidth carrier as a secondary component carrier aggregated with the primary component carrier, and scheduling the SSB within the primary component carrier.

A method and system to help prevent legacy devices that do not support a service feature such as uplink-downlink subcarrier shifting from connecting with an access node on a carrier where the service feature should be applied. An example method involves use of Network Signaling (NS) values that are used for spectral emission control. Per the disclosure, the access node could broadcast an NS value that legacy device are not configured to understand but that newer devices are configured to understand as relating to both spectral emission limitation and also the service feature at issue. Responsive to the broadcast of that NS value, the legacy devices will therefore not connect with the access node, while the newer devices may connect with the access node and apply the service feature.

A method and system for controlling uplink transmit power of a UE when the UE is served concurrently on at least two air interfaces including a first air interface and a second air interface. An example method includes, iteratively for each successive given time interval of a continuum of equal-duration time intervals, (i) determining an actual average transmit power of the UE on the first air interface over the given time interval, (ii) using the determined actual average transmit power of the UE on the first air interface over the given time interval as a basis to set a maximum average transmit power of the UE for transmission on the second air interface in a respective subsequent time interval, and (iii) applying the set maximum average transmit power as a limitation on uplink transmit power of the UE for the transmission on the second air interface in the respective subsequent time interval.

A method and system for controlling uplink transmit power of a UE, for instance on an FDD connection. An example method includes, iteratively for each successive given time interval of a continuum of equal-duration time intervals (i) determining an actual average transmit power of the UE in the given time interval, (ii) using the determined actual average transmit power of the UE in the given time interval as a basis to set a maximum average transmit power of the UE in a respective subsequent time interval of the continuum of time intervals, and (iii) applying the set maximum average transmit power as a limitation on uplink transmit power of the UE in the respective subsequent time interval.

Dynamically accounting for past transmit power as basis to set future transmit power

When a first coverage area will use a first TDD configuration and a second coverage area will use a second TDD configuration that is different than the first TDD configuration, a guard band operatively separating the first and second coverage areas (in frequency and/or in space) will be configured with an enhanced TDD configuration that is specially structured to be consistent with both the first and second TDD configurations. Namely, the enhanced TDD configuration could be downlink just when both the first and second TDD configurations are downlink and uplink just when both the first and second TDD configurations are uplink, and can unused at other times.

Method and system to facilitate use of conflicting TDD configurations

A mechanism to control wireless connectivity of a wireless communication device (WCD) with an access node on a carrier. When within coverage provided by the access node on the carrier, the WCD receives a system message broadcast by the access node on the carrier, the system message carrying data that represents an operational parameter for service on the carrier. Further, the WCD makes a first determination that the WCD is unable to interpret the data that is carried by the received system message and makes a second determination that the received system message flags the data as being critical to service on the carrier. And in response to at least a combination of the first and second determinations, the WCD forgoes connecting with the access node on the carrier.

This disclosure describes NEAD-based and external location server (ELS)-based positioning systems and methods that determine when an identifier of a mobile device is not known or when the identifier of the mobile device is known but cannot be detected during a search by reference points, and to then provide a location of a reference point that had previous contact with the mobile device instead of an estimated position of the mobile device. The provided location of the reference point can be used by a location server to generate an estimate of mobile device position.
