The disclosure is directed to a method and system to provide electrical current to a downhole tool, such as an active magnetic ranging tool. The electrical current can be transmitted through a drill string, with an end attached drilling assembly inserted into a wellbore. The downhole tool can include a power isolation sub to create an isolated electrical zone along the drill string. The downhole tool can transmit an electrical current along a designated portion of a subterranean formation to create a resultant magnetic field to be detected by the active magnetic ranging tool or other downhole tools. A drilling wellbore can maintain drilling operations while actively ranging a target well for intercept and other operations. The drilling assembly does not need to be removed from the wellbore to enable the activities of the active magnetic ranging tool, and access to the target wellbore is not needed.

A flow restriction tool can include a closure device having positions in which flow is permitted through the tool, in one position a flow passage is open to the flow and the closure device blocks flow through another flow passage, and in another position both passages are open to the flow, and a biasing device which displaces the closure device to the former position in response to a flow rate being less than a predetermined level. A well tool string can include an orientation tool that intermittently permits flow through a wall of the tool string to transmit orientation data via pressure pulses in a flow passage through the string, and a flow restriction tool that permits flow through one flow area when a flow rate of the flow is less than a predetermined level, and permits flow through a larger flow area when the flow rate is increased.

A junction can be isolated from fracturing pressure using a liner extending from a one bore through a junction into a lateral bore, where at least a portion of the liner is retrievable from the lateral bore prior to completion of wellbore construction. The junction may be temporarily isolated from high pressure, such as high pressure from a fracturing stimulation process. Part of the liner can be retrieved using a disconnect mechanism or technique.

Assemblies that can be disposed in a subterranean bore. An assembly can include a body with an opening in a wall of the body. A sleeve can be disposed exterior to the body at the opening. The sleeve can be made from material such as carbon fiber that can withstand at least some pressures and forces present in the subterranean environment and reduce a diameter of the body and sleeve. The assembly may also include an inner sleeve and/or an inner string that can isolate the sleeve from certain pressures and forces.

A method of completing a wellbore having a branch wellbore extending outwardly from a window in a parent wellbore comprises positioning a tubular string in the window, wherein the positioning comprises deflecting the tubular string from the parent wellbore into the branch wellbore. The method also comprises providing a particulate barrier outside and against the tubular string proximate the window, the particulate barrier substantially excluding transport of particulate matter from the branch wellbore into the parent wellbore outside of the tubular string through the window. The method also comprises the tubular string passing fluid into the tubular string proximate the window from a formation proximate to the window while substantially excluding transport of particulate matter from the formation proximate to the window into the tubular string.
