A shrouded fluid turbine comprises annular airfoils (called shrouds) that are coaxial with and surround a rotor of a fluid turbine. A Mixer Ejector Wind Turbine consists of a turbine shroud that is engaged with a rotor. The rotor is rotationally engaged with a nacelle that houses electrical-generation equipment. The turbine shroud is engaged with support members that are engaged with an ejector shroud. At least one inflated annular tube is surrounded by an annular array of support members, which in turn is covered by a membrane, forming the annular airfoils that make up the turbine shroud and ejector shroud.

A family of dual-winglet rotor blades are designed to dissipate the low energy flow in the wake of a turbine rotor. In some embodiments a dual-winglet having a first winglet transitioning from the lift surface of a rotor blade and a second winglet transitioning from the pressure surface of the rotor blade creates two distinct streams in the wake of the rotor. In one embodiment the first winglet curving away from the lift surface turns the lift force toward the center of the rotor plane while a second, smaller, winglet curving away from the pressure surface of the rotor blade turns the lift force away from the center of the rotor plane. In other embodiments winglets create a virtual shroud that expands the wake to dissipate the low-energy flow in the turbine wake. In another embodiment a dual winglet combines the aforementioned mixing effect with the wake expansion effect.

A semi-annular delta-airfoil is designed in conjunction with a fluid turbine rotor blade to provide increased rotor-tip speed, increased coefficient of power, reduced wind shear, reduced noise and increased self-yaw. A dual-winglet rotor blade in combination with a semi-annular delta-airfoil increases the above mentioned benefits by increasing the rotor-blade tip surface-area that is in contact with the area of increased fluid velocity over the semi-annular airfoil. Winglets on the semi-annular delta-airfoil provide self-yaw characteristics.

A semi-ringed airfoil is designed in conjunction with a fluid turbine rotor blade to provide increased rotor-tip speed, increased coefficient of power, reduced wind shear and reduced noise. A dual-winglet rotor blade in combination with a semi-ringed airfoil increases the above mentioned benefits by increasing the rotor-blade tip surface-area that is in contact with the area of increased fluid velocity over the semi-ringed airfoil.

The embodiment relates to beverage dispensing, and more particularly to the dispensing of a carbonated beverage, from any container into a vessel, providing a portion of the beverage as foam atop the dispensed beverage. To avoid the reduction of absorbed carbon dioxide in a carbonated beverage, increased atmospheric pressure is employed to move the beverage from the container through the apparatus and into the vessel. An oscillating means provides a sonic wave through the conduit and the liquid therein; the sonic wave initiates the reaction between the carbon dioxide and the ingredients in the beverage to cause the liquid to foam prior to dispensing into the vessel. Iterations include an adaptable apparatus for a beer tap and a means for passing the liquid to be dispensed through a permeable container filled with soluble material or a permeable container filled with a filtration means.

A fluid turbine comprises a turbine shroud and an optional ejector shroud. The turbine shroud and/or the ejector shroud are formed from a hard shell and a membrane. The hard shell forms a leading edge, a trailing edge, and an interior surface of the shroud. The membrane forms an exterior surface of the shroud. The resulting construction is lighter than previous turbine shrouds.

A shrouded wind turbine comprises a shroud disposed about an impeller. The impeller surrounds a nacelle body which is shaped to enhance smooth flow of wind through the impeller. Some embodiments include an inlet and an outlet in the nacelle body, allowing airflow through an interior cavity. Other nacelle bodies may be tapered, flared, include mixing lobes around a trailing edge, or may have other shapes that enhance fluid flow. Some nacelle bodies include an annular groove that promotes flow attachment. Maintaining airflow attachment to the nacelle body within the turbine increases the energy generation capacity of the wind turbine.
