Disclosed is a method for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The method comprises the step of delivering urea from a floating vessel to a region of a photic zone of the ocean, whereby the number of phytoplankton is caused to increase in the region upon addition of the urea. The method can be used for producing carbon cells.

Carbon sequestration using a floating vessel

Disclosed herein are methods and systems for determining an amount of carbon dioxide that can be sequestered from the atmosphere by a portion of an ocean. The methods or systems involve the following steps (a) determining which chemical element or elements would, when added to a photic zone of the portion, cause growth of a phytoplankton population in the portion; (b) determining a quantity of the chemical element or elements to be added to the photic zone whereby substantially all of the element or substantially all of at least one of the elements added would be consumed by the additional phytoplankton grown: and (c) calculating the amount of carbon dioxide that can be sequestered from the atmosphere based on the determined quantity of the chemical element or elements that would be added to the portion.

A concrete batch plant is disclosed including a frame and a transit mixer drum having an open end and a closed end. The drum is configured to be utilized both with the concrete batch plant and on a transit mixer truck. The drum may be pivotally coupled to the frame of the concrete batch plant for movement between a first position in which the open end is positioned to receive cement from a cement supply and to receive aggregate from an aggregate supply and a second position in which the open end is positioned to discharge the mixed cement and aggregate. The present invention provides a method for removing CO.sub.2 from the atmosphere. The method comprises the step of delivering a source of nitrogen to the mixed layer of the ocean to cause an increase in the number of phytoplankton in the mixed layer and thereby increase the amount of photosynthesis carried out by the phytoplankton.
