A power tool is provided comprising: a motor, an output shaft driven by the motor along a longitudinal axis, a fan rotationally coupled to the motor to generate an airflow, and a housing comprising two calm shells mated together to support the motor and forming a back wall behind the motor along the longitudinal axis. The rear wall includes a plurality of air intakes. An end cap is attached to the housing adjacent the rear wall with an air gap therebetween. The airflow generated by the fan enters through the air gap in a substantially radial direction, then passes through the plurality of air intakes to enter the housing in thermal contact with the motor.

The present disclosure is directed to charging a battery pack by determining a battery pack identification (ID) value from a battery pack identification (ID) component of the battery pack, applying a sinusoidal AC excitation signal to a set of battery cells of the battery pack, calculating an impedance value of the battery pack based on the sinusoidal AC excitation signal, comparing the impedance value of the battery pack to a set of reference impedance values associated with the battery pack ID value, and selecting a charging scheme based on a comparison of the impedance value of the battery pack to the set of reference impedance values associated with the battery pack ID value. The battery pack is charged using the charging scheme.

A fuel transfer station may provide for the refilling of fuel canisters providing fuel to combustion powered equipment. The fuel transfer station may include a base, a frame coupled to the base, a first connection port and a second connection port provided in the base, and fluid flow lines connecting the first connection port and the second connection port. A supply tank may be supported by the frame and detachably connected to the first connection port. A fuel canister to be refilled may be detachably connected to the second connection port. Fuel contained in the supply tank may be selectively supplied to the fuel canister through the fluid flow lines in response to a pressure gradient drawing the fuel into the fuel canister.

A motor assembly is provided including a stator and a rotor. The stator includes a stator main body defining a longitudinal axis, stator teeth projecting radially from the stator main body, stator windings wound around the stator teeth, and two winding terminals provided for each stator tooth extending away from the stator main body substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. A circuit board is oriented along a radial plane adjacent the stator. The circuit board includes a central through-hole through which a rotor shaft extends, at least one magnetic sensor mounted on a surface of the circuit board around the central through-hole configured to magnetically interface with the rotor, peripheral openings arranged to receive the winding terminals of the stator, and conductive routings extending from the peripheral openings to connect the stator windings in a series or a parallel configuration and/or a wye or a delta configuration.

Battery charger

A battery-powered motor may include an electric motor, a controller, and a housing. The electric motor may be wound to enable the battery-powered motor to achieve a non-limited motor maximum motor revolutions per minute (RPM) for at least one specified battery. The controlling current may include limiting current to the electric motor at lower RPMs, and limiting the current to prevent the RPM of the electric motor from exceeding a limited maximum motor RPM which is lower than the non-limited motor maximum RPM. The housing may enclose the electric motor and the controller and the specified battery. The housing may have a form factor to engage with a machine that engages with an internal combustion engine that has a maximum engine RPM that is approximately the same as the limited maximum motor RPM.

A combustion powered tool uses a fuel canister with a refillable hydrogen storage vessel containing metal hydride. The fuel canister includes a valve assembly with at least one valve to release hydrogen fuel gas. The valve assembly is removable from the refillable hydrogen storage vessel. A coupling device includes a first coupler attached to the refillable hydrogen storage vessel and a second coupler attached to the valve assembly. An outlet adapter is attached to the valve assembly to supply hydrogen fuel gas to the power tool.

A handheld combustion powered fastening tool may include a driving system that drives fasteners into workpieces in response to combustion of fuel by the driving system. A fuel delivery system may supply fuel to the driving system. The fuel delivery system may include a fuel canister storing liquid fuel, such as liquid hydrocarbons such as propane, and a fuel metering valve supplying a previously set amount, or volume, of fuel from the fuel canister to the driving system for combustion.

An external heat sink is provided including a main body defining a hollow opening form-fittingly receiving the stator therein in thermal communication with the stator. A bearing support structure is provided having a main body radially arranged and secured the main body of the external heat sink, the bearing support structure forming a central bearing pocket arranged to receive and support the bearing of the rotor therein to axially and radially support the rotor with respect to the heat sink.

A handheld combustion powered fastening tool may include a driving system that drives fasteners into workpieces in response to combustion of fuel by the driving system. A fuel delivery system may supply fuel to the driving system. The fuel delivery system may include a fuel canister storing liquid fuel, such as liquid hydrocarbons such as propane, and all direction valve, supplying fuel from the fuel canister to the driving system for combustion. The valve may supply fuel to the driving system in a multiplicity of orientations of the valve/canister/tool, allowing the tool to be operable in a plurality of different orientations, including an upright orientation and an inverted orientation.

A system includes a charger having one or more receptacles for charging one or more removable battery packs, where the charger is capable of being electrically coupled to an electrical bus of a prime mover. The charger is capable of operating in multiple different charging modes. The charger is capable of discharging energy from the removable battery packs to the electrical bus to charge one or more components electrically coupled to the electrical bus and/or drawing energy from the electrical bus to charge one or more of the removable battery packs.
