An electrical connector assembly includes a first electrical contact device and a second electrical contact device. The first electrical contact device includes a plurality of conductors. The second electrical contact device includes a first portion, a second portion movable in a rotational and translational manner relative to the first portion, and an actuator movable between a first position and a second position. The first portion includes first electrical contacts, and the second portion includes electrical sockets. Each socket receives an associated conductor and includes a second electrical contact aligned with an associated first electrical contact. The second portion is biased away from the first portion. When the actuator is in the first position, the actuator inhibits translational movement of the second portion toward the first portion. When the actuator is in the second position, the second portion is movable toward the first portion to permit the second electrical contacts to engage the first electrical contacts.

An internally switched female receptacle or connector for use with IEC 60309-2 configuration plugs and the like. Various plug-latching and plug-actuated safety interlock arrangements coordinate strictly axial plug movement relative to the receptacle with the closing and opening of sleeve contacts and terminal pressure contacts. A continuous ground feature ensures grounding of the primary electrical circuit throughout plug insertion and withdrawal. An optional low-current lighting control circuit powers an LED status indicator. A modular clocking design enables variable angular positioning of the terminals during manufacture.

Internally switched female receptacle or connector with plug-latching safety interlock

An electrical receptacle includes a housing having a cover or face member coupled to a base, and a mounting bridge extending around and contacting the bottom and the two opposite ends of the base. Each of the end-contacting portions of the mounting bridge has at least one base tab that projects inwardly into engagement with the end of the base, and at least one face tab, preferably barbed, that projects upwardly into the face member. During assembly, the base tabs preferably are bent over an upper edge of the base to firmly clamp the mounting bridge to the base. A line contact assembly extending along each side of the base has at least one line contact tab that projects upwardly into the face member. Mating snap-fit connectors afford additional robustness to the assembly.

Hospital grade electrical receptacle

A tamper resistant assembly provides tamper resistance to an electrical receptacle. A groove has a locking portion connected to a first portion in a base member of the tamper resistant assembly. A first shutter member having first and second resilient arms is slidably connected to the base member. First and second protrusions extend rearwardly from the first and second resilient arms, respectively, and are slidably received in the groove in the base member. The first and second protrusions are disposed in the locking portion of the groove when the shutter member is in a closed position and in the first portion when the shutter member is in an open position. The locking portion prevents separation of the first and second protrusions in the closed position to prevent the first and second resilient arms from being separated and to prevent insertion of an object therebetween.

Tamper resistant assembly for an electrical receptacle

A lock-on boot for preventing a double-ended cable from becoming detached from a motor disconnect switch, includes a cover, a retaining rail, a locking mechanism, and a hinge. The cover has two convexly curved shells, each with an inner wall, an interior end, and an exterior end. The retaining rail is mounted on the inner walls within the convexly curved shells for dividing the shells into first and second pockets. The locking mechanism secures the convexly curved shells together and protrudes along their exterior ends. The hinge extends along the convexly curved shells pivotally joining their interior ends so that the convexly curved shells are movable between open and closed positions.
