In a cotton harvester, a pair of fork assemblies are mounted between the ends of the basket for independently rocking about a fore-and-aft extending pivotal axis. A separate hydraulic cylinder operates each fork assembly to compact the cotton against the side of the basket and to selectively hold a substantial portion of the cotton in the basket during dumping. The cylinders are plumbed in parallel so that uneven loads can be compressed with substantially uniform pressure from the front to rear of the basket.

A shank mounting arrangement for a disk hiller or similar implement which provides simple and precise angular adjustment of the shank independently of vertical adjustment. An upright slotted tube is fixed to a support beam and an upright apertured shank is slidably received in the tube. An adjustable collar including a plurality of holes adapted for alignment with the slots in the upright tube is mounted for rotation with respect to the upright tube, and a pin is inserted through the holes, slot and an aperture in the shank for retaining the shank in a preselected one of a plurality of vertical positions relative to the support beam. The collar may be rotated independently of vertical adjustment to change the angle of the shank.

A crop sheild is connected to the aft ends of a pair of parallel links by a bracket assembly which can pivot to permit the shield to dump trash. The bracket assembly is pivotally connected to the aft end of the lower link and includes a slot slidably received on a pin located on the aft end of the upper link to maintain the links in a generally parallel relationship. The weight of the shield normally biases the shield to a horizontal field-working position with the end of the slot stopped against the pin. When trash builds up, the shield pivots with respect to the lower link and the slot slides over the pin as the shield moves up against the bias over the trash. Dump forces are reduced since the shields pivot independently of the parallel links.

Self-dumping crop shield

Compressed livestock feed such as hay in stack form is severed from the stack, dislodged and transferred to the side of the stack for feeding. A stack is loaded on the stack mover bed and advanced to a position partially underlying the feeding conveyor. The conveyor is then activated and lowered. Conveyor mounted blades sever the underlying stack portion from the stack and a conveyor mounted raking device dislodges the severed stack portion and transfers it to the side of the stack for discharging.
