The present application describes a means for utilizing mobile sensors to obtain estimated weather observations for use in enhancing climatological databases. Such mobile sensor data is incorporated into a database also containing data from fixed reference sensors. The mobile sensor weather data is combined statistically to derive pseudo-observations to be added to the database. The data from sensors and from prior pseudo-observations are used to perform quality analysis of the data in the database and invalidate outlier data values. The remaining data is used to generate a climatology database that enables generation of more accurate weather forecasts.

Method for designing a material processing system

The invention provides for a brake pad apparatus for connecting to a brake assembly of a motor vehicle. The brake pad apparatus includes a backing plate that extends along a first plane and has an inside surface and an outside surface. A liner is connected to the inside surface of the backing plate for contacting the rotor for creating a frictional force against the rotor to slow the motor vehicle. An insulating layer is connected to the outside surface of the backing plate for providing heat and noise insulation during contact of the liner against the rotor. At least one projection extends from the outside surface of the backing plate through the insulating layer, and past the insulating layer for being engaged by a pressing member of the brake assembly for compressing the liner against the rotor of the brake assembly.

Brake pad apparatus

A support mechanism for selected sizes and numbers of cylindrical members includes a pair of substantially identical covers providing a first cavity between them, and pairs of substantially identical opposed interlocked inserts disposed in the first cavity, each of the pairs of inserts providing a second cavity to support and retain a cylindrical member. Each of the covers and inserts comprises a male fitting extending from one end and a female receptacle disposed in the other end, such that when covers and inserts are reversed top-to-bottom and end-for-end, respective male fittings engage respective female fittings to interlock covers and inserts together. Pairs of inserts can be in one or two stacks. A pair of substantially identical adapters, each comprising the same male and female fittings, extends the distance between covers to accommodate a second stack of inserts.
