An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having a terminal-receiving passage for insertion thereinto of a terminal in a given insertion direction. The terminal includes a spring contact arm at least in part projecting into the passage for engagement by an appropriate mating contact element. The terminal further includes an engagement arm projecting into the passage behind the spring contact arm at a location to provide an engagement shoulder for an insertion tool which forces the terminal into the terminal-receiving passage of the housing.

Electrical connector

A system is provided for mounting an electrical connector in a support structure. The connector includes a housing having a forward insertion end and a rearward mating end. The support structure includes an inner opening for receiving the forward insertion end of the housing and an outer opening for embracing the rearward mating end of the housing. A mounting structure provides limited floating movement of the mating end of the housing relative to the support structure to facilitate mating the connector with a complementary connector. The mounting structure at the insertion end of the housing fixed the insertion end of the housing against movement relative to the support structure.

System for mounting an electrical connector in a support structure

An electrical connector for mounting in a cutout in a generally planar panel. The connector includes a dielectric housing having guide projections on the side of the housing for slidably mounting the housing in the cutout in an insertion direction generally parallel to the plane of the panel. At least one latch projection on the housing extends therefrom in the insertion direction generally parallel to the plane of the panel for engaging an appropriate lock projecting from the panel.

Electrical connector for mounting on a support structure such as a panel

A package is disclosed for storing and dispensing electrical connectors or components thereof. The package employs a plurality of elongated component-containing tubes in a generally parallel laterally stacked array, with opposite ends of the tubes being in generally linear alignments at opposite ends of the stacked array. An elongated, U-shaped end cap slidingly engages the opposite outer walls of the tubes along the opposite ends of the stacked array thereof. A dispensing system is disclosed wherein a pair of upright supports of a dispensing apparatus are disposed in a spaced arrangement for receiving therebetween the stacked array of tubes held together by the end caps. Complementary recessed portions located within said upright supports hold the end caps so that when the stacked array is moved beyond the recessed portions, the end caps remain in the recessed portions.

Package and dispensing system incorporating storage tubes for electrical

An electrical connector system is provided for a video display tube yoke. The system includes a header mounted on the yoke and including a header body and a plurality of stiff terminal pins projecting from the body and terminated to appropriate leads from the yoke. A connector mates with the header and includes a dielectric housing having a plurality of terminal-receiving cavities and a plurality of pin-receiving passages communicating with the cavities. A plurality of terminals are received in the cavities. Each terminal includes a terminal portion adapted to be terminated to a wire conductor, and a trap portion aligned with one of the terminal-receiving passages. The trap portion is adapted to receive and trap one of the stiff terminal pins of the header. Latches are provided between the header and the connector to hold the connector in mated condition with the header.

Electrical connector system for a video display tube yoke

A packaging system is disclosed for storing and handling electrical connectors and the like. The system employs a plurality of elongated connector-containing tubes. Each tube has an aperture therethrough near each opposite end thereof. The apertures are spaced longitudinally of the respective tubes so that a pair of assembly rods can be passed through the aligned apertures of a plurality of generally parallel juxtaposed tubes. The assembly rods hold the tubes in a generally stacked array and also act as stop rods to close-off the ends of the tubes. At least one aperture in each tube is enlarged relative to the rod passing therethrough for accommodating any variances in the spacing between the apertures in any particular tubes.

Packaging system incorporating storage tubes for electrical connectors

An electrical connector system includes a first connector assembly having an insulative housing defining at least one cavity with a thin male terminal extending thereinto. A second connector assembly includes an insulative housing defining at least one cavity with a spring contact terminal located therein. The thin male terminal is engageable with the spring contact terminal upon mating of the connector assemblies. The first connector assembly includes a supporting wall for supporting one side of the thin male terminal, and the wall extends only partially along the length of the male terminal to leave an unsupported distal end of the terminal. The second connector assembly includes a preloading wall against which the spring contact terminal is biased for preloading the spring contact terminal. The distal end of the thin male terminal is insertable between the spring contact terminal and the preloading wall, with the preloading wall supporting the distal end of the male terminal on the one side thereof, upon mating of the connector assemblies. Therefore, the supporting wall of the first connector assembly and the preloading wall of the second connector assembly combine to provide support along a substantial length of the male terminal. Preferably, the preloading wall is configured to engage and provide support for the unsupported distal end of the thin male terminal before the male terminal engages the preloaded spring contact terminal.

A packaging system is disclosed for a plurality of electrical connectors each having a longitudinal axis between opposite ends thereof. The system includes an elongated carrier strip having a given width on which the electrical connectors are mounted. The connectors are mounted adjacent each other in an end-to-end array with the longitudinal axes of the connectors extending in the longitudinal direction of the carrier strip.

Packaging system for electrical connectors

A splice block for use with a condition responsive security switch is provided. The splice block is generally cylindrical and mounted to the end of the switch with terminals unitarily extending therebetween. The splice block includes a base and a cover which is mountable in alternate first and second positions on the base. The first position permits wires to be inserted into the splice block. Movement of the cover into the second position terminates the wires to terminals in the splice block.

A multi-conductor electrical connector for mounting on a printed circuit board which includes two rows of staggered insertion holes. The connector includes a housing having an elongate cavity. A contact strip is formed with a continuous carrier and laterally extending contacts gang-mountable in the elongate cavity of the housing. Each contact includes a conductor receptacle positionable in the cavity, and a pair of laterally spaced terminal tails projecting through the housing from the cavity. The terminal tails are independently severable whereby a terminal tail of any contact can be inserted into a hole in either row of staggered insertion holes in the printed circuit board. The contact receptacle is formed by an anvil portion and a spring finger portion. The terminal tails are stamped and formed out of the anvil portion and the spring finger portion of the contact.

Multiple-conductor electrical connector and stamped and formed contacts

A strain relief structure is provided for direct cable to circuit board connections. The strain relief structure is securely mountable to the circuit board and comprises a body which includes at least one cable receiving aperture extending therethrough. The cable receiving aperture is characterized by a deflectable strain relief engagement for engaging the insulation on the cable and providing necessary strain relief. The aperture is constructed to alternatively permit first and second depths of insertion, each of which permits engagement of the strain relief structure with the cable. The first depth of insertion substantially encloses the exposed conductors of the cable to prevent damage during shipment and storage. The second depth of insertion enables electrical connection between the cable conductors and conductive areas on the circuit board.

Strain relief structure for connecting flat flexible cable to a circuit

A modular, multi-row, mass terminated electrical connector which mates with an array of pins. The connector includes a housing having top and bottom rows of elongated terminal receiving cavities each with a forward pin receiving opening. A plurality of terminals are mounted in the cavities with each terminal having a forward pin engaging portion and a rear insulation displacement portion. The cavities of the top rows are staggered with respect to the cavities of the bottom row and the adjacent top row cavities are spaced apart from one another. An access slot is formed in the top of each cavity to expose the insulation displacement portion of the terminals. The insulation displacement portion of the terminals received in the bottom row cavities are accessible between adjacent top row cavities so that all of the terminals of both rows can be mass terminated from the top of the connector. The housing is made up of a plurality of modules connected together by means of selectively removable connecting members. A desired number of modules may be removed to have a connector that will mate with a desired pin array.

Modular staggered multi-row electrical connector

A connector assembly for electrically connecting a transducer to another circuit member. The transducer is in the form of a thin wafer and has a conductive substrate with a piezoelectric element mounted thereon. The connector assembly generally includes a base means for removably securing the transducer and electrically connecting it to the circuit element.
