The present invention is directed to PE-100 ethylene copolymers and pipe made thereof having a Tabor abrasion between about 0.01 and about 0.001 grams lost/1000 revolutions. These copolymers are formed by contacting ethylene with at least one mono-1-olefin comonomer having from 2 to about 10 carbon atoms per molecule in a reaction zone under polymerization conditions in the presence of a hydrocarbon diluent, a catalyst system, and a cocatalyst. Additionally, the comonomers may be selected from mono-1-olefins having 4 to 10 carbon atoms, such as, 1-hexene, 1-butene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, 1-octene, and 1-decene. Further, these ethylene copolymers may be employed to produce PE-100 pipe having both small diameters and diameters in excess of 42 inches substantially without sagging or other gravitational deformation. Copolymers of ethylene and 1-hexene are disclosed which are used to produce PE-100 pipe.

Olefin polymers, method of making, and use thereof

The whiteness and stability after processing of a polyolefin have been found to be improved upon the addition of a combination of at least one high activity phosphite and at least one hydrolytically stable phosphite.

Phosphite additives in polyolefins

The whiteness and stability of a polyolefin have been found to be improved upon addition of a first phosphite, an arylalkyl diphosphite, and a second phosphite selected from a second arylalkyl disphosphite or a triarylphosphite. In addition, the addition of a triarylphosphite with an arylalkyl disphoshite has been found to improve the hygroscopic nature and the hydrolytic stability of the arylalkyl disphosphite.

The present invention is directed to homo-polymers and copolymers of mono-1-olefins, a method of making such polymers,and uses of such polymers. Polymers of the present invention are formed by contacting at least one mono-1-olefin having from 2 to about 20 carbon atoms per molecule and at least one mono-1-olefin co-monomer having from 2 to about 10 carbon atoms per molecule in a reaction zone under polymerization conditions in the presence of a hydrocarbon diluent, a catalyst system, and a cocatalyst. In another aspect of the present invention, ethylene copolymers are employed to produce PE-100 pipe. Further, these ethylene copolymers may be employed to produce PE-100 pipe having both small diameters and diameters in excess of 42 inches substantially without sagging or other gravitational deformation. Copolymers of ethylene and 1-hexene are disclosed which are used to produce PE-100 pipe.

The whiteness and stability of a polyolefin have been found to be improved upon addition of a first phosphite, an arylalkyl diphosphite, and a second phosphite selected from the group consisting of a second arylalkyl diphosphite and a triarylphosphite. In addition, the addition of a triarylphosphite with an arylalkyl diphosphite has as been found to improve the hygroscopic nature and the hydrolytic stability of the arylalkyl diphosphite.

A self supporting film having one or more layers wherein at least one layer has a percent haze of less than 17.8 and the polymer of that layer consists essentially of a polyethylene having a density of at least 0.925 grams per cc, a molecular weight distribution of no more than 4, optionally containing a fluoroelastomer, and methods for making such film are disclosed.

Polyethylene film

A process comprising reacting at least one polymer component, with at least one reactive component, to produce a composition, the polymer being a metallocene polymerized ethylene (co)polymer, and the reactive component being a crosslinking agent.

Process to produce a composition

A high clarity film containing three layers wherein the polymer of each outer layer is the same or different polyethylene selected from polyethylenes having a density of at least 0.925 g/cc, and a molecular weight distribution of less than 4, and being further characterized by being substantially free of branches having 6 or more carbon atoms, polyethylenes of the outer layers optionally containing a fluoroelastomer.

Films comprising metallocene catalyzed polyethylene

Polymerization processes for ethylene and at least one mono-1-olefin comonomer having from about three to eight carbon atoms per molecule in the presence of a catalyst system comprising chromium supported on a silica-titania support and a trialkylboron compound is provided. Novel ethylene copolymers also are produced.

Polymerization process

Chromium catalyst compositions are provided. These chromium catalyst compositions comprise at least two chromium catalyst systems that have a certain amount of chromium and a support that comprises silica and titania. the supports have certain pore volumes and surface areas. These catalyst compositions are useful for homopolymerizing ethylene or copolymerizing ethylene with a comonomer. The resins produced are useful in film applications.

Chromium catalyst compositions and polymerization processes therewith

The molecular weight of solid polymers, particularly polyolefins, is modified by addition of organic peroxides (or other free radical generators), which is admixed in a first reaction zone. The polymer is then melted followed by addition of additives such as antioxidants and light stabilizers, which are admixed in a second reaction zone where intense and rapid mixing occurs, such as within the barrel of an extruder. The separate admixture of primary and secondary additives provides improved color and odor characteristics for the polymer compared to concurrent admixture of all the additives.

Selective admixture of additives for modifying a polymer

A composition of matter comprising: (a) 10 to 80 weight percent inclusive of a low molecular weight polyethylene resin having a density of at least 0.94 grams per cubic centimeter, a melt index greater than 25 grams per 10 minutes, and a heterogeneity index between 2 and 12 inclusive; and (b) 20 to 90 weight percent inclusive of a high molecular weight ethylene copolymer having a density less than 0.955 grams per cubic centimeter, a high load melt index between 2 and 10 grams per 10 minutes inclusive, and a heterogeneity index between 2 and 10 inclusive; wherein said composition of matter has a melt index greater than 0.05 grams per 10 minutes.

Polyethylene blends

A composition of matter comprising: (a) 5 to 40 weight percent inclusive of a low molecular weight ethylene resin made using a titanium catalyst system said resin having a density greater than 0.955 grams per cubic centimeter, a melt index greater than 25 grams per 10 minutes, and a heterogeneity index between 2 and 8 inclusive; and (b) 60 to 95 weight percent inclusive of a high molecular weight ethylene copolymer resin made using a chromium catalyst system said resin having a density of at least 0.93 grams per cubic centimeter, a high load melt index between 1.5 and 15 grams per 10 minutes, and a heterogeneity index between 6 and 100 inclusive; wherein said composition of matter has a melt index greater than 0.05 grams per 10 minutes.

A composition of matter comprising: (a) 30 to 70 weight percent inclusive of a low molecular weight ethylene resin made using a chromium catalyst system said resin having a density of at least 0.955 grams per cubic centimeter, a melt index from 25 to 400 grams per 10 minutes, and a heterogeneity index between 2 and 35 inclusive; and (b) 30 to 70 weight percent inclusive of a high molecular weight ethylene copolymer resin made using a titanium catalyst system said resin having a density not greater than 0.955 grams per cubic centimeter, a high load melt index between 0.1 and 50 grams per 10 minutes inclusive, and a heterogeneity index between 2 and 10 inclusive; wherein said composition of matter has a melt index greater than 0.05 grams per 10 minutes.
