A toy system that can be used in a body of water. The system includes a plurality of toy accessories that can be placed in the water. Placement of a toy accessory into the water activates the accessory to generate a signal. The signal is received by a base station. The base station generates an output in response to the signal. By way of example, the base station can generate a speech pattern. Each toy accessory may provide a unique code to the base station. Each code may generate a different speech pattern.

Water ID technology toys and toy playsets

A combined optical imaging/display device employs a liquid crystal light valve (LCLV) with a charge coupled device (CCD) input, and a photosensitive CCD or charge injection device (CID) array for receiving an input image and developing a corresponding signal pattern. The signal pattern is applied as an input to the CCD after amplifying it and manipulating it as desired. The CCD and photosensitive array are provided on a common substrate; their cells may be arranged in alternating rows or in separate arrays. The invention is applicable to active vision enhancement goggles.

Optical imaging/display CCD light valve and method

There is disclosed a liquid crystal display device which utilizes an elliptical mirror to present a magnified image of a light trap across the surface of a liquid crystal display element which is positioned with respect to the mirror and the light trap so as to simultaneously receive both ambient and auxiliary illumination on the surface of the display element from the mirror at angles where liquid crystal scattering is most effective. The auxiliary light source may be positioned adjacent to the light trap. The display element is positioned such that the viewing angle for the observer is below the horizontal line from the observer to the plane of the display element. The light trap and auxiliary light source are slightly above the display element whereas the elliptical mirror is below and in front of the display element positioned so as to place the light trap at one focus of the ellipse of which the mirror surface forms a segment and to position the mirror image of the observer reflected from the display element at the other focus of the ellipse.

Reflector focused light trap for a liquid crystal display

A liquid crystal device biased by an alternating current having a predetermined frequency higher than the dispersion frequency of the liquid crystal material. The liquid crystal device exhibits inherent capacitance across its input terminals which is resonated by an inductor to result in a higher bias current and reduction of image smear of images displayed by such device.
