A brushless motor includes a rotor and a stator having four slots into which electrical coils are placed. The stator may include a means for limiting cogging. The brushless motor having a high torque constant, low coil resistance, low coil inductance, and high thermal conductivity is provided.

High torque low inertia brushless motor

Embodiments of a small brushless motor include a two-pole rotor and a stator having four slots into which electrical coils are placed. Additional embodiments of a small brushless motor include a two-pole rotor and stator having eight slots into which four, six, or eight electrical coils are placed. The stator may include a means for limiting cogging. The small brushless motor having a high torque constant, low coil resistance, low coil inductance, and high thermal conductivity is provided.

Variable torque low inertia brushless motor

Disclosed are devices and methods for reducing resonant vibrations in impact tools. The embodiments disclosed herein include the use of certain particles positioned within an impact tool, such as a hammer, for converting the energy of vibration to heat energy resulting from collisions between the particles.

Device for reducing vibration in impact tools and associated methods

A rotary position detector includes a housing having an inner space having a reflective element. A light source emits light rays into the inner space. A base supports a light detector assembly having a first number of toroidal-sector-shaped light sensors arranged circumferentially about a motor shaft axis, is, one 'Cosine +' detector element, one 'Cosine &#x2212;' detector element, one &#x201c;Sine +&#x201d; detector element, and one &#x201c;Sine &#x2212;&#x201d; detector element. A light blocker positioned between the light source and the light sensors rotates with the shaft. The light blocker includes a second number of opaque, equal-surface-area elements arrayed about the axis, the second number equal to one-half the first number. A circuit measures a signal from the detectors relating to an amount of light falling thereon, a difference related to an angular position of the motor shaft.

Low inertia rotary position detector and associated methods

A position sensor employing silicon photodiodes formed from trapezoidal chips mounted on a printed circuit board detects angular positions of a rotor shaft within a galvanometer-based optical scanner.

Light detector employing trapezoidal chips

An electromechanical rotary actuator includes a stator having teeth extending inwardly from an inner wall surface, wherein free ends of each tooth form an aperture dimensioned for receiving a rotor, the free ends forming a gap therebetween. A segmented set of electrical coils extends around each tooth, wherein each coil of the segmented set has a thickness sufficient for passing through the gap between the first and second teeth. Electrically insulating tabs extend into an opening around each tooth carrying the segmented set of coils. The tabs maintain each of the coils within the segmented set in a spaced relation to the stator. When fabricating the actuator, each of the coils are fabricated and individually placed around a tooth with each coil having a thickness and breadth for optimally packing the stator.

Electromechanical limited rotation rotary actuator and method employing segmented coils

A limited rotation electromechanical rotary actuator includes a stator having an opening sized to accept a rotor assembly and an electrical coil. A rotor assembly is bidirectionally operable with the stator over a limited range of rotation. The rotor assembly includes an output shaft and a two-pole magnet and a position sensor shaft, wherein the output shaft and position sensor shaft are each rigidly attached to only a portion of the magnet. The rotor assembly includes apertures for allowing an electrical coil to pass through. The electrical coil extends around the magnet on four sides and is excitable for providing bidirectional torque to the rotor.

Light detector employing trapezoidal chips and associated methods

A limited rotation electromechanical rotary actuator includes a stator having an aperture sized to accept a rotor assembly and a rectangular coil. A rotor assembly is bidirectionally operable with the stator over a limited range of rotation. The rotor assembly includes an output shaft and a two-pole magnet and a position sensor shaft, wherein the output shaft and position sensor shaft are each rigidly attached to only a portion of the magnet. The rotor assembly includes apertures for allowing an electrical coil to pass through. The electrical coil extends around the magnet on four sides and is excitable for providing bidirectional torque to the rotor.

A heel-toe actuated bass drum pedal system includes a pedal having a heel hinge point at a rear portion and an opposing toe hinge point at a front portion. A heel transfer arm is connected between the heel hinge point and the base. A heel rocker pivot is connected to the base and a heel linkage connected between the heel transfer arm and the heel rocker pivot such that movement of the heel linkage provides rotational movement to the heel rocker pivot which may carry a drum beater. A toe rocker pivot is connected to the base and a toe linkage connected between the toe rocker pivot and the toe hinge point for providing the rotational movement to the toe rocker pivot which may include a second drum beater. A return spring biases the rocker pivots toward a preselected rotation.

Heel-toe actuated pedal system

A coil former provides for restricted cross-over locations for a coil resulting in an optimum wire packing at all points within the coil. The coil former has a first side wall in a spaced relation to an opposing second side wall, wherein a cavity formed between the side walls accommodates multiple turns of wire for forming a coil. A block is fixed between the opposing first and second side walls and has its peripheral wall surface tapered from the first wall surface inwardly toward the opposing second wall surface for preferentially receiving and positioning turns of wire forming the coil.

Multi-turn electrical coil and fabricating device and associated methods

A galvanometer-based optical scanner limits a range of mirror rotation angles and includes posts extending from an adjustable base to define a range of angles for rotation of the mirror and cushioning carried by the posts for softening an impact of the mirror when making contact with the posts. A band of rubber-like material is placed around the posts to provide the cushioning. Operation of the scanner is such that an adjustable mirror stop is provided which does not stop rotation of the rotor itself, but stops rotation of the mirror.
