An electromagnetic tracking (EMT) system is configured for determining a frequency for generating at least a portion of a magnetic field signal using a transmitter coil of a plurality of transmitter coils. The EMT system configures a time-division multiplexed (TDM) control signal configured to cause the transmitter coil to transmit bursts of the magnetic field signal at the frequency. The EMT system configures a filter for filtering the TDM control signal, the filter configured to shape each burst to reduce or eliminate a harmonic artifact of the bursts. The EMT system causes the transmitter coil to generate the shaped bursts of the magnetic field signal. The EMT system receives, from a sensor, a sensor signal that corresponds to the magnetic field signal, the sensor including the output response indicative of the location of the sensor relative to the transmitter.

The present invention provides a system and method for sensing and managing pothole locations and pothole characteristics. An additional aspect of the present invention is to provide a system that may acquire, fuse, and analyze pothole sensing data from several sources to identify potholes in need of maintenance or repair. Further, the system may be configured to create and distribute recurring reports of pothole repair data for use by roadway officials.

The present invention provides a system and method for controlling an asphalt repair apparatus. An additional aspect of the present invention is to provide a system that may position a heater repair element adjacent a targeted asphalt surface, acquire and analyze surface and heater sensing data, and control heater output to prepare the targeted asphalt surface for repair. One embodiment of the present invention includes an identification mechanism, such as a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag or barcode, associated with a waste container. The identification mechanism contains an identifier that can be used to identify the waste container, and that can be read by a vehicle with an identification reader. In addition, the location of the waste container can be determined using a GPS receiver. The waste container identifier and its corresponding location can then be stored in a computer for later transmission to a second computer, for example, by using a wireless communication link. The second can be used to associate the waste container identifier and the waste container's position with a customer.
