In some embodiments, a patient monitoring queue may be established () that includes a plurality of patients in an area () such as a waiting room. The area may be capturable by vital sign acquisition camera(s) () mounted in or near the area. Updated vital sign(s) may be unobtrusively acquired () by the vital sign acquisition camera(s) from a given patient selected () from the patient monitoring queue. Based on the updated vital sign(s) and prior vital signs acquired previously from the given patient, deterioration of the given patient may be detected (). Output may be provided () alerting medical personnel of the deterioration of the given patient.

If a medical professional is present in the patient's room, the display displays a first display mode, the first display mode including the patient physiological data. System and method for providing family mode for monitoring devices

When generating a model of physiological systems in a patient, differential equations representing parameters and variables in the systems are linked together to form one or more sub-models (e.g., one for each physiological system), which in turn are linked together to form the patient model. Simulations of hypothetical clinical situations are then run on the model to solve for the variables, and the solutions are output as decision support data for review by a clinician to facilitate a determination of a treatment of diagnosis for the patient. Additionally, model predictions can be compared to actual measurements, when available, and the model can be refined or optimized as a function of the comparison.

Integration of physiological models in medical decision support systems

A context-aware decision-support system automatically selects the clinical guideline pertaining to the patient's medical care and automatically deduces the current stage in the guideline (S, S). The system tracks a patient's progress through the guideline to maintain a determination as to the current stage (S, S). Decision support system with embedded clinical guidelines

An electronic display () includes a graph representing a magnitude of a sensed physiological condition versus time. A background behind the graph is color coded delineated, such as to depict a normal range for the physiological condition and one or more abnormal ranges. This provides instant color-coded feedback to the clinician of the meaning of the graph. When a clinician selects a medication or treatment, a database is searched to generate an expectation range () depicting how the sensed physiological condition is expected to move after administration of the medication or treatment. This enables the clinician to compare treatments and, after a treatment is selected, to receive easy-to-interpret feedback as to whether the sensed physiological condition is responding as expected to the treatment.

Display of trends and anticipated trends from mitigation

A system and method is disclosed for queuing and presenting audio messages in a communication system comprising an audio controller and audio message computer software. The audio controller receives overlapping audio messages that have portions that have been simultaneously received by the audio controller. The audio controller separately stores the audio messages in a queue in an audio buffer and then sequentially plays the messages. The audio controller may delay playing an audio message for a predetermined period of time or until the audio controller receives a control signal from a user. The user may select an audio message to be played from a list that displays the names of the senders of the audio messages. The audio controller may obtain a timestamp from a video program and associate an audio message to be played with the video program.

System and method for queuing and presenting audio messages

A method, apparatus and system for synchronizing the video output of personal video recorders in two or more locations. A broadcast program is received and recorded on a personal video recorder on a first personal video recorder. Thus, at least one program will be stored in memory in the first personal video recorder. A second personal video recorder having a common program residing in its memory is selected. A signal is then transmitted to or from the first personal video recorder to simultaneously initiate a start sequence in each of the first and second personal video recorders. The start signal may be transmitted over the Internet or by other communication means such as telephone lines.

There is disclosed an addressable advertising system comprising: 1) receiver circuitry for receiving an incoming television signal from an external source, generating a original baseband video signal, and transmitting the original baseband video signal to a display associated with the addressable advertising system; 2) a local storage device coupled to the receiver circuitry for storing a plurality of replacement video advertisements; and 3) an advertisement controller coupled to the receiver circuitry and the local storage device for detecting a first swap control signal transmitted in the incoming television signal. In response to the detection of the first swap control signal, the advertisement controller causes the receiver circuitry to receive from the local storage device a first selected replacement video advertisement from which the receiver circuitry generates a replacement baseband video signal and transmits the replacement baseband video signal to the display.

Closed loop addressable advertising system and method of operation

A method and device for determining whether an incorrect recording occurred on a recording device. Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information is used to select a program to be recorded. Corrected EPG data is sent after the recording and compared to the time, channel and length of recording to determine if an incorrect recording took place due to a change in scheduling. If so the recording device searches the EPG data for another showing of the program and if found records the next showing.

Follow up correction to EPG for recording systems to reset requests for recording

A method of returning to a program that is being received on a first channel is disclosed. The method includes storing data that characterizes at least one portion of the program. After storing this data, the user is free to change channels. The system automatically switches back to the first channel when data that characterizes a subsequent portion of the program matches the stored data.
