A system is described that includes a transmitter for generating a magnetic field comprising a first detection region and a second detection region, wherein the first detection region is different than the second detection region. The system comprises a receiver configured to detect at a location of the receiver in the magnetic field a magnetic field vector, a polarity, and at least one additional vector. The system comprises the receiver configured to use the magnetic field vector, the polarity, and the at least one additional vector to determine a position of the receiver in the magnetic field.

Threshold barrier system

A communication channel between a first processor of a receiver and a second processor of a battery assembly is provided. The battery assembly requests a public key from the receiver. The receiver combines the public key with a private key stored in memory to form a first combined public key, applies a first hash function to the first combined public key, stores the resulting first hash value in memory and transmits the public key to the battery assembly. The battery assembly combines the public key with a corresponding private key to form a second combined public key, applies a corresponding hash function to the second combined public key and transmits the resulting second hash value to the receiver. The receiver compares the first hash value to the second hash value and enables operations of the receiver when the first hash value equals the second hash value.

Method and apparatus for verifying battery authenticity

An animal containment system is described that comprises a transmitter unit and a receiver, the transmitter unit comprising a transmitter coil and signal generator. The signal generator transmits a modulated activation signal through the coil and generates a uniform magnetic field within a region around the coil. A receiver travels through a portion of the uniform magnetic field and uses information of periodically emphasized positively directed portions of the signal to detect a first polarity of the magnetic field in a first detection area and a second reversed polarity of the magnetic field in the second detection area. A detected reversal of polarity indicates a boundary crossing event including the receiver transitioning across the boundary.

A system for controlling pets utilizes a low power transmitter to create avoidance zones in which one pet wearing an animal control receiver can enter but in which a second pet is deterred from entering.

Method and apparatus for varying animal correction signals

Described is an animal containment system for containing an animal within a boundary, for maximizing the animal's usable area within the boundary, for not discouraging the animal from returning to within the boundary in the event the animal moves beyond the boundary, and for doing so without utilizing an independent polarity indicator. The animal containment system determines whether the animal is within the boundary or beyond the boundary by considering the polarity of an activation signal the animal containment system transmits from the boundary and receives at the location of the animal. The animal containment system determines the polarity of the activation signal by modulating the signal such that the modulation indicates the polarity of the activation signal. The animal containment system achieves the above-discussed features by delivering a stimulus to the animal only when it traverses the boundary from within the boundary.

Method and device for determining the polarity of a signal transmitted by an animal containment system

A receiver for an animal training system which includes a stimulation unit for providing at least one stimulus having a quantity of energy pulses and a stimulus pulse width; and a controller connected to the stimulation unit. The controller receives at least one transmitted signal and assigns amplitude information and rate information to at least one correction signal. The stimulation unit receives the at least one correction signal and outputs a corresponding stimulus having the quantity of energy pulses corresponding to the rate information. The stimulus has the stimulus pulse width corresponding to the amplitude information.

Animal training system with multiple configurable correction settings

A transmitter for an animal training system, which includes a modulator for energizing at least one antenna, and a controller connected to the modulator. A first switch is connected to the controller, and the first switch is for entering a setup mode and for selecting at least one of a plurality of setting configurations. A second switch is also connected to the controller, and the second switch is for modifying a value of a respective setting configuration.

Control of animal containment system transmitter settings with minimal switches

An animal behavior modification system including a collar, a receiver device and a transponder. The receiver device is attached to the collar, the receiver device having a receiver circuit and a stimulation circuit. The transponder is in communication with the receiver device. The transponder is positioned proximate to the receiver device. The transponder includes a signal transmitter; and an antenna intermittently electrically connectable to the signal transmitter. The signal transmitter wirelessly communicating to the receiver circuit of the receiver device.

A signal transmitter system for an animal training system including an electrical impedance loop, a signal generator and a power supply. The signal generator is connected to the electrical impedance loop. The signal generator provides a current signal to the electrical impedance loop. The power supply provides a voltage level to the signal generator. The voltage level is dependent upon a measured characteristic of a voltage signal that results from an interaction of the current signal with the electrical impedance loop.
