A method is set forth for making polarizing glasses having high dichroic ratios by drawing relatively small silver-containing particles under relatively high stress and elongating such particles during the drawing process without rupturing the glass draw by coating the polarizing glass with a substantially low viscosity skin glass.

Method and apparatus is set forth for supporting a laminated extrusion die in such a manner so as to virtually eliminate all tensile stress in the die by applying a compressive force to end portions of die blades, forming said laminated die, parallel to the neutral axis thereof and offset a given distance from the neutral axis toward an outlet face of the die.

An insulating contoured window is provided for use with an enclosed chamber such as an evacuated flat plate solar heat collector with the contoured solar window being of minimum thickness and supported solely about its peripheral edge portions. TV bulbs are composed of funnels and panels, and the present invention sets forth a novel construction of a funnel for a TV bulb which not only incorporates thinner walls than a conventional funnel, but which also utilizes less total glass when formed into a bulb than a conventional TV bulb, while retaining the required strength and sealing surface area necessary to form an evacuated TV tube when sealed to a viewing panel.
