Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate recognizing and providing notification of events, states, and/or conditions associated with the CPE (customer premise equipment) device and/or associated networks or devices. An application running on a mobile device (e.g., smart phone) can be used to observe and diagnose electronic equipment (e.g., CPE device). Equipment can have indicators (audio, visual, etc.) that a human would have difficulty interpreting correctly. A mobile device application can be programmed to observe audio and/or visual indicators, report status and possibly recommend course(s) of corrective action to the user. Since the information observed by the mobile device is unidirectional (from the equipment to the mobile device) there is no increased security risk.

Relaying device status information using light indicator patterns

Methods, systems, and apparatuses can provide for prioritization of customer premise equipment configuration parameters. This can be facilitated by creating a hierarchical list of the different configuration methods (e.g., parameter sources) and applying parameter values from each of the parameter sources to the device in the order in which those parameter sources are included on the hierarchical list.

Selectively ordering application of provisioning from multiple sources for network equipment

Systems and methods can provide for preventing a false alarm generated during a planned network outage during a maintenance window. Security systems can generate and report alarms to a security center through a communications network. Intruders are known to disable the communication network thereby preventing reporting of an alarm to the security center. Security systems can generate local alarms upon detecting loss of the communications network. It is advantageous for a communications network operator to prevent false alarm generation during periods of planned network outages.
