A system designed to optimize fuel efficiency of a power grid includes a set of controllable generators designed to supply power to the power grid. Each generator in the set is associated with a controller, a set of loads designed to draw power from the power grid, and a grid controller designed to provide a load partitioned configuration for the set of controllable generators, based at least partly on the power draw of the set of loads.

Fuel efficiency optimization for microgrid systems employing multiple generators

A process develops controls for microgrid systems. The process models physical systems of increasing complexity. Candidate control algorithms are implemented as state machines that can affect state variables which represent control signals for elements of the physical system. A simulation of the physical system is operated according to the control algorithms.

Method for microgrid controls development

Methods and a system for simulating a weapon system are provided. The weapon system may be modeled using a detailed-error-source description (DESD), with an error term for each error source in the weapon system. A target for the weapon system may be determined. For each simulated shot, each error term in the DESD may be perturbed using a Monte Carlo technique and an impact location of the simulated shot determined. The perturbation of each error term, additional system parameters, and the impact location of each simulated shot may be stored in a system-state data structure. A performance result of the weapon system may be determined. After firing all simulated shots, analysis of the system-state data structure may be performed. Performance results and/or an error-weighting function of the weapon system may be determined based on the analysis.

Method and apparatus for analysis of errors, accuracy, and precision of guns and direct and indirect fire control mechanisms

A boresight apparatus and methods for use of same with a gun system are provided. The gun system includes a gun tube and a pointing device. The boresight apparatus is installed on an outside surface of the gun tube. Once the gun tube is adjusted to a desired gun-tube orientation, the boresight apparatus determines the gun-tube orientation, including an azimuth, an elevation, and a roll of the gun tube. The pointing device determines a pointing-device orientation at the desired angle. The gun system may be boresighted by adjusting the pointing device based on the gun-tube orientation. The pointing accuracy performance of the gun system may be determined based on offsets between the gun-tube orientation and the pointing-device orientation. The boresight may determine an azimuth using optical technologies, such as lasers, with a precision survey or using north-finding techniques with gyroscopes.

Boresighting and pointing accuracy determination of gun systems

A method and a system for measuring the velocity of a projectile. The method and system employ sensors that uses magnetoresistive sensing elements to measure the velocity of a projectile. Two magnetoresistive based sensors may be used to sense a time at which a projectile crosses a sense path associated with each of the sensors. Because the sensors employ magnetoresistive sensing elements, high quality voltage signals are produced, allowing accurate time measurements to be calculated. Accordingly, the velocity of the projectile can be determined by using these time measurements along with a measured spacing distance between the sensors.

Velocity measurement using magnetoresistive sensors

A method and apparatus using ultrasonic sensors for determination of the pointing vector described by two points separated in space in the coordinate frame of the measuring system. For measurement, acoustic signals are transmitted from two emitters whose spatially separated coordinates form the desired pointing vector. Three detectors, associated receiver electronics and software are required to compute six distinct spheres from the time of flight measurements. The intersection of the three spheres, associated with each emitter, describe the desired location in the detector coordinate system of that emitter. With the coordinates of each emitter, the pointing vector is computed using standard geometry. A reference is required to determine the time of flight of the signals to each detector. Another embodiment uses an active reflective technique, where the timing is obtained through round trip transmission and reception of the signal with a known fixed delay at the vector points.

Remote attitude and position indicating system

A contactless precision, optical distance and angle measurement method and system optically measuring the position of a moveable object, the bending of the object, the torque applied to the object and the object's rotational velocity. The present invention includes a plurality of optical sensors placed around and adjacent to the moveable object which transmit optical signals to a surface of the object and receives the optic signals when predefined marker means are sensed. The received optic signals are then processed by non-linear estimation techniques known to those of skill in the art to obtain the desired information.
