A portable hairsetter appliance for heating a single hair roller. The hairsetter comprises a cylindrical housing having an axially aligned and longitudinally extending high voltage electric resistance heating element encapsulated in a quartz envelope for heating a single hair roller inserted into the cylindrical housing. The weight of the roller closes an electrical circuit and the roller is heated to a predetermined temperature whereupon a thermoplastic bimetallic disc changes its concavity to open the electrical circuit. A safety means is provided to automatically open the electrical circuit if the roller is pressed into the housing with a force greater than its own weight.

Heating device for rapidly heating a single hair roller

A curling iron provided with an infrared radiation source within a hollow barrel for radiating infrared radiation within a predetermined band. The barrel is substantially transparent to radiation within the band emitted by the source. The curling iron is provided with a hair clip for retaining hair wound about the barrel, the clip also being substantially transparent to this infrared band. A fan is provided for blowing cooling air past the infrared source and through the barrel, the tip of the barrel being sufficiently perforated to pass this cooling air. The curling iron is further provided with a circuit for energizing the infrared source in a predetermined cyclical manner in order to maintain the temperature of the barrel within a predetermined range. A temperature sensor is further provided to sense the temperature of the barrel in order to activate the control circuit accordingly.

Infrared hair styling device

A reusable heat pack containing a solution of a salt hydrate capable of being supercooled to provide heat of crystallization upon inducement of crystallization, the heat pack being provided with a reusable trigger mechanism located on the surface of the heat pack to permit simple and positive initiation of crystallization.

Heat pack apparatus

The present invention is a cutting unit having multiple sets of tandem blades; each set being composed of a first toothed blade moved reciprocatingly in a cutting motion relative to a second tooth blade. The blades are preferably curved.

Hair trimmer

There is disclosed a vibrating electric heating pad connected to a vibrator having a vibrating plate suspended in foam plastic in the vibrator housing and a control module with a slide switch and a transformer/rectifier. In a preferred embodiment, the vibrator is attached by velcro strips to the heating pad, and via a jack to the control module. The control module is also electrically connected to the heating pad and controls the heating pad and the vibrator.

Heating pad

A dental plaque disclosing light for use in conjunction with a fluorescent dye plaque disclosing solution contained in a periodontal area of an individual's mouth is disclosed. A parabolic reflector supports a light source providing only light which causes the fluorescent dye to fluoresce. The light source is located in conjunction with the parabolic reflector to cause the parabolic reflector to project a solid, converging cone of light. Preferably, the light source is located forward of the focus of the parabolic reflector. A power supply is selectively connected to the light source for illuminating the light source. The power supply may be one or more batteries, and if the batteries are of the rechargeable type, a means for selectively recharging the batteries is connected to the batteries. A lens is supported adjacent the light source for projecting a solid, diverging cone of light having an axis concentric with the axis of the converging cone of light. A casing which supports the parabolic reflector also supports a reflecting surface adjacent the parabolic reflector such that, when the converging cone of light and diverging cone of light are directed toward the individual's mouth, the light reflected by the fluorescent dye is reflected by the reflecting surface and directed toward the individual's eyes. The light source may be a lamp and a filter means covering the lamp for filtering and passing therethrough only light which cuases the fluorescent dye to fluoresce.

Dental plaque disclosing light and method

A shear is disclosed in a preferred form which is particularly suited for cutting and trimming hair and which includes means for varying the length of stroke of the cutting blade or blades which reciprocate generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the handle, so that the unit can be manipulated in a manner similar to a comb or brush. The blade drive includes a transmission comprising a pair of eccentrics which are selectively phaseable to provide full range of stroke by addition and subtraction of their eccentric throws. The eccentrics are retained in their selected phase relationship by spring and frictional means which provide an overload release permitting the eccentrics to rephase to zero stroke when the imposed load overcomes the phase-retaining means. Control of the unit is effected by a rotatable and depressable button which controls the drive motor, adjusts the blade stroke by phasing of the eccentrics, and lowers the cutting blade or blades from a retracted position into a cutting position.
