Electrical protection devices, such as for use with power systems for overvoltage protection, are disclosed. One electrical protection device includes a first electrical connection, a second electrical connection, a first electrical discharge device, and a second electrical discharge device. The first electrical discharge device includes a first conductive bus connected to the first electrical connection and a second conductive bus connected to the second electrical connection. The first electrical discharge device has a first breakdown voltage. The second electrical discharge device includes a third conductive bus connected to the first electrical connection and a fourth conductive bus connected to the second electrical connection. The second electrical discharge device has a second breakdown voltage.

Overvoltage protection for power systems

Methods and devices for shielding electronic equipment within an enclosure are disclosed. One method includes positioning electronic equipment within an interior volume of a shielding enclosure having an opening providing access to the interior volume, the opening surrounded by an enclosure frame. The method further includes closing a door to the shielding enclosure, thereby closing off the opening, and engaging one or more latches to affix the door in a closed position, the door including a shielding curtain positioned across the opening. The method also includes inflating an inflatable member positioned along a perimeter of the door frame, thereby applying a uniform pressure to the shielding curtain toward the enclosure frame to form a seal therebetween.

Electromagnetically protected electronic enclosure

A system transports a device into a piece of industrial equipment for the purpose of collecting data inside of the industrial equipment. In an embodiment, the industrial equipment is a furnace and the device is an IR camera. The system opens a door covering an opening on the furnace, moves the IR camera inside of the furnace for a short time, the IR camera captures images, and the system removes the camera from the furnace and closes the door.

A magnetometer vehicle detector for detecting various parameters of traffic on a roadway. A number of sensors, having a compact package, along with connecting cables, may be placed in road way with a small number of standard width sawcuts. Alternatively, sensors may be placed in the roadway within tubes under the external surface of the roadway. The package design of the sensor is such that the sensor can be placed in the sawcut or tube only in a certain way or ways resulting in the most sensitive axis of the sensor being most likely affected by just the traffic or vehicles desired to be detected and measured. The sensor may be a magnetoresistive device having a permalloy magnetic sensing bridge. Multiple sensors may be placed in single or multiple lanes of the roadway for noting the presence of vehicles and measuring traffic parameters such as average speeds, vehicle spacings, and types and numbers of vehicles. Such information is processed from the shapes, times and magnitudes of the signature signals from the sensors.

Magnetometer vehicle detector

A device for precisely aligning a shuttle (28) in registration with a track from which the shuttle (28) is to receive an integrated circuit electronic device or into which the shuttle (28) is to deposit such a device. The device includes a shaft (42) disposed for rotation about an axis generally parallel to the axis along which the shuttle (28) moves. Pins (44), one corresponding to each of the tracks from which an integrated circuit electronic device is received within the shuttle (28) and the track or tracks into which such a device is to be deposited by the shuttle (28), extend generally radially from the shaft (42). The shuttle (28) carries a notch plate (54) having an open-sided notch (60) formed therein. The notch is defined by a pair of wall edges of a pair of fingers (56) formed in the plate (54). When the shuttle (28) is in a location approximating an intended position at a particular track, the shaft (42) is rotated so that the pin (44), corresponding to the particular track, is urged into the notch (60). As the pin (44) enters the notch (60), lateral adjustment of the shuttle (28) is effected to precisely register the shuttle (28) with the particular track.

Precision alignment device

An instrument for aligning the spindle of a vertical milling machine perpendicular to the milling machine table or work surface. The instrument comprises a first right circular cylinder member that is coaxially attached to the machine spindle about a first axis. This is typically accomplished with the use of a spindle collet. A second pivotal member contains that portion of the first member protruding from the spindle collet. The second member allows rotational and axial freedom of the first member, and the first member is so contained that radial clearance between the first and second member is held to be negligible. The second member is constructed to provide for pivotal attachment to a third or main frame member about a second axis which is orthogonal but not necessarily coplanar with the first axis. The third member has provision for contact with the milling machine table at two points that define a third axis which is orthogonal but not necessarily coplanar with the second axis. A displacement indicator is affixed between the second and third members such that both acute and obtuse departures from perpendicularity between the first and third axes can be quantified.

Spindle squaring tool

Apparatus for directing a pointing axis at the position of the sun, and for tracking the relative motion of the sun from an observation point on earth from horizon to horizon with a single, constant speed driving mechanism. The apparatus comprises a first member aligned along the local vertical axis, a second member aligned along an intersecting polar axis, a rotatable shaft member which is pivotal in a horizontal plane about the intersection point of the vertical and polar axes, a number rotatable about the polar axis along a circular path about the intersecting point of the two axes, and a solar pointing member fixedly attached to the rotatable shaft member at the point of intersection of the foregoing two axes and movably attached to the member which is rotatable about the polar axis member, wherein the constant speed drive mechanism is coupled to the polar axis member for rotating said member about the polar axis. When the pointing member is initially adjustably set to point toward the sun, the constant speed drive mechanism will thereafter cause the pointing member to continually track the movement of the sun relative to the earth from horizon to horizon.
