A non-mechanical needle guard for permanently securing and incapacitating a single used syringe and needle assembly consists of a sleeve for receiving the needle and luer lock and the hub end of a syringe. The sleeve contains a two part adhesive, the two elements being separated by a penetrable membrane, with the opened end of the sleeve being sealed by a second membrane. A stand holds a number of the needle guards in a stable, upright position so the needle may be inserted with a single hand, as required by OSHA. As the needle penetrates the two membranes, the two elements of the adhesive combine, permanently securing the needle and syringe end in the cured adhesive. The needle guard of the present invention secures and incapacitates the used needle and syringe in a manner meeting OSHA's disposal safety standards.

Non-mechanical syringe and needle assembly needle guard

A medical fluid collection canister for collecting fluids from fluid collection devices in surgical procedures. The medical fluid collection canister includes a receptacle, a lid, and an adapter cap. The receptacle includes a generally a floor portion, and a vertical annular wall portion with a top and a bottom. The lid includes a spout and venting hole, and is attached the top of the annular wall portion for maintaining a vacuum-tight connection therebetween. The annular wall portion, the floor portion, and the lid define a canister interior therebetween. The adapter cap is removably coupled to the spout for maintaining a vacuum-tight connection therebetween. The adapter cap includes a fluid collection device portal fluidly coupled to a fluid collection device, and a vacuum attachment portal fluidly coupled to a vacuum generating device. The canister interior preferably has a volume of 15,000 cubic centimeters, and is sized and arranged to be effective for all medical procedures. Additionally, the canister is adaptable to function as a suction and specimen canister, a suction canister, and a drain canister.

Fluid collection canister for use in medical procedures

A modular shelf organizer for partitioning a shelf. The organizer includes a plurality of trays each having a floor and four short upright walls, and a fence for spanning adjacent trays. The fence forms a storage compartment between two trays, and prevents stored items from rolling off the shelf. The fence comprises one or more fence members further comprising a short wall having a plurality of slots. Corresponding slots are formed in right and left lateral walls of the tray. Fence members can therefore attach to a tray by friction and gravity, and are manually removable therefrom. Supports are provided to support otherwise unsupported fence members where fence members are arranged in series between two adjacent trays. A support has a slot for receiving one or two fence members, and a flared opening for guiding a fence member into the slot. Each tray has interior subdividers which interconnect in a manner similar to that attaching fence members to trays. Both trays and fence member supports have fastening material, such as adhesive or hook and loop material for securing trays and fence member supports permanently to a shelf.

This invention relates to a non-mechanical locking incapacitation syringe safety needle guard for preventing reuse of a syringe and needle assembly and for preventing an accidental needle injury. The needle guard has a hollow chamber filled with liquid adhesive. When the needle portion, luer lock, and neck of the syringe are placed in the chamber, the adhesive locks the needle guard permanently to the syringe, thereby disabling the needle portion. Further, the adhesive is drawn into the syringe chamber to lock the plunger of the syringe to the syringe, thereby immobilizing the plunger. This renders the syringe and the needle completely useless.
