A tire has a carcass reinforcement extending between a pair of opposing bead portion. At least one of the bead portions terminates axially to the outside by a tip and is intended to be mounted on a wheel rim having a bead seat that has an axially outer end closer to the axis of rotation than the axially inner end thereof. Within the bead portion are a bead ring and a bead apex. The radial carcass reinforcement ply is anchored in each bead portion and has at least one terminal end located in the bead portion. In the bead portion, the reinforcement ply passing radially inward of the bead ring, extending axially outward of the bead ring. The reinforcement ply terminates without passing back under the bead ring.

A tire initiated vehicle control system for vehicles is described. The vehicles have vehicle components including a power train a suspension system a steering mechanism a plurality of wheel brake mechanisms one wheel brake mechanism being at each wheel position and location, a fuel or vehicle speed throttle with or without a cruise control system, the vehicle control system has a tire pressure detection device and a control means which preferably has a computer for receiving data from the tire pressure detection device The control means processes the received tire pressure data and upon a preset pressure or rate of change value in tire pressure the control means directs a change in response rates of one or more of the above listed vehicle components.

A tread for a unidirectional pneumatic tire has first and second circumferentially extending zones. The edges of the zones are parallel to the equatorial plane of the tire. Each zone has a width between 40% and 60% of the tread width. The first zone has substantially aligned lateral wide groove segments extending across the width of the first zone. The segments form an angle between 70 and 90 degrees with the equatorial plane. The net-to-gross ratio of the first zone is at least 3% more than that of the second zone. The leading edge of the blocks in the first zone are narrower than the trailing edge. The second zone has substantially aligned lateral wide groove segments extending across the width of the second zone. The segments form an angle between 10 and 45 degrees with the equatorial plane.
