Synthetic foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) mosaic polypeptides, and nucleic acid molecules encoding the mosaic polypeptides, are described. When included as part of an FMDV genome, the mosaic polypeptides permit virus replication and assembly into FMDV particles. The mosaic polypeptide and nucleic acid compositions can be used to elicit immune responses that provide protection against a broad range of serotype O FMDV strains.

Development of mosaic vaccines against foot and mouth disease virus serotype O

Synthetic immunogenic polypeptides based on a curated set of natural alphavirus structural protein sequences are described. The polypeptides were computationally designed to provide optimal coverage of potential immunogenic epitopes of wild-type alphaviruses, including isolates of Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus, Western equine encephalitis virus, Eastern equine encephalitis virus and Chikungunya virus. Sets of immunogenic polypeptides, as well as nucleic acid molecules and vectors encoding the immunogenic polypeptides are also described. The disclosed compositions can be used to elicit an immune response against alphaviruses in a subject.

Alphavirus immunogens and methods of use

The invention provides compositions, methods, and kits for the treatment or prevention of viral infections. The polyvalent (e.g., 2-valent) vaccines described herein incorporate computationally-optimized viral polypeptides that can increase the diversity or breadth and depth of cellular immune response in vaccinated subjects.
