Provided are fabrics, components thereof, and methods for making the same. Woven and nonwoven fabrics are composed of fibers composed of a polyolefin composition. The polyolefin composition is composed of a propylene polymer and up to about 50 wt. %, based on the weight of the fiber, of a hydrocarbon resin. Fibers prepared from polyolefin compositions exhibit favorable elongation properties. Such fibers exhibit advantageous processing and enhanced levels of softness, durability, and elasticity, even at high spinning speeds required for preparing fine fibers.

Synthetic fabrics, components thereof, and methods for making the same

Multiple layer structures incorporating at least one polymeric film layer and at least one nonwoven fabric layer and products produced from such structures are provided. The polymeric film layer includes at least one tackifier resin. The at least one tackifier resin may be selected from a variety of resins including synthetic and natural resins. In certain embodiments, the at least one tackifier resin may be present at a concentration of about 0.1 wt. % to about 50 wt. % of the polymeric layer. The polymeric film layer may include one or more polymeric components selected from a variety of polymeric materials. Exemplary polymeric materials include polyethylene and ethylene vinyl acetate although as discussed hereinafter, a wide range of polymeric joined with a nonwoven fabric. The multiple layer structures may include additional layers made from a variety of materials. The structures exhibit beneficial peel strength properties between the polymeric layer and the nonwoven fabric layer.

The present invention relates to polypropylene alloys which are especially suited for soft fiber and fabric applications. An embodiment of these alloys comprise an ethylene-propylene random copolymer having an ethylene content of from about 1.0 to 5.0% by weight, in an amount of from about 40 to 90% by weight of the alloy; and an ethylene-propylene bipolymer having an ethylene content of from about 10 to 30% by weight, in an amount of from about 10 to 60% by weight of the alloy. The present invention further relates to a hybrid process for making these alloys.

Polypropylene copolymer alloys and process for making

A TiCl.sub.3 catalyst system is disclosed employing the electron donor, dicyclopentyldimethoxysilane ('DCPMS'). Additionally disclosed is a process for polymerizing olefins in the presence of a catalyst system employing a titanium trichloride catalyst, an alkylaluminum cocatalyst, and dicyclopentyldimethoxysilane is provided. The polymerization process comprises providing a prepolymerized titanium trichloride catalyst, and polymerizing an .alpha.-olefin in the presence of the prepolymerized catalyst, a trialkylaluminum co-catalyst and dicyclopentyldimethoxysilane. The catalyst system of the invention provides increased catalyst activity for a TiCl.sub.3 catalyst and a very broad polymer molecular weight distribution.
