A scan head design uses 1:1 (one-to-one) imaging micro-lens arrays to transfer the object plane X-ray image from a CR-plate onto a linear photosensor. The scan-head includes a housing having therein, an array of red light emitting diodes (LEDs), a microlens array, and a sensor. The housing faces the CR-plate and the scan-head is translated across the CR-plate to read out the X-ray image therein. The scan head is compact and provides for improved spatial resolution and reduced power requirements.

A portable fluidic platform for rapid and flexible end-to-end production of recombinant protein biologics includes a bioreactor system hosting stable and robust cell-free translation systems that is fluidically integrated with modular protein separation functionalities (e.g., size exclusion, ion exchange or affinity chromatography systems) for purification of the cell-free expressed product and which are configurable for process-specific isolation of different proteins, as well as for formulation. The bioreactor utilizes lysates from engineered eukaryotic (e.g., yeast) or prokaryotic (e.g., bacterial) strains that contain factors for protein folding and posttranslational modifications. Combination of various purification modules on the same fluidic platform allows flexibility of re-routing for purification of different proteins depending on specific target requirements. Protein synthesis and purification modules are integrated into self-contained disposable fluidic cartridge that eliminates cross-contamination between runs. The platform allows for flexible production of protein biologics within 24 hours (from DNA to purified product).

A universal power manger capable of power converting a universal range of unregulated power inputs into a high-resolution programmable regulated (constant) output voltage or a high-resolution programmable (constant) current and of charging and/or diagnosing standard battery chemistries with a universal range of unregulated AC and DC power inputs. It includes an extremely high resolution monolithic potentiometer of at least 512 positions. Preferably, two or more extremely high resolution monolithic potentiometers are used to create a high resolution resistance chain, each having at least 512 positions and at least one tap point set according to a user selected output voltage and/or current. Each potentiometer has a resultant tap point selected by an analog switch in accordance with a user selected output that determines overall resistance in the resistance chain, the output voltage being proportional to the overall resistance. A microprocessor with embedded control software controls the tap points and selection thereof in accordance with user selections. A current sense circuit and feedback loop is included for generating a current output in response to the current through the current sense circuit.

Universal power manager with variable buck/boost converter

A four stage pipelined processor (40) provides efficient processing of the most common operation performed in simulating neuron networks. A first stage of the processor includes a program memory (42) and a program address generator (41). A second stage comprises first and second data memories (44, 46) and respective address generators (60, 66) coupled thereto. A third stage comprises the input (X, Y) of a function unit (82), and a fourth stage comprises the output (Z) of the function unit (82). A unique bus architecture allows the various stages to simultaneously communicate with each other through the use of independent buses, and further provides for the quick simultaneous transfer of data from both the first and second data memories to the function unit. When not needed for performing in the pipelined mode, the various buses may be coupled together and to an I/O interface (52) by means of bus coupling means (e.g., 47). This architecture significantly reduces the circuitry needed to implement the necessary buses while allowing the processor to run without speed limitations in the pipelined mode.
