A standpipe freeze-protection device having a frustum shell. The shell has a first end, a second end, an outer surface, and a plurality of drain apertures. The first end has a first surface that substantially closes the first end except for an opening within the first surface. The opening is configured to allow a standpipe to pass through the opening. The second end is opposite the first end and is substantially open. The outer surface extends between the first end and the second end. The plurality of drain apertures are through the outer surface of the shell.

Standpipe freeze protection device

A vehicle includes a first trailer having a rear end, and a second trailer having a front. The second trailer is coupled to the first trailer. The vehicle also includes at least one flexible membrane that includes a perimeter coupled to the rear end. A seal is formed between the perimeter and the rear end. The vehicle further includes a pressurization source coupled to the vehicle, and at least one port defined in and extending through the rear end. The at least one port is enclosed by the perimeter and in fluidic communication with the pressurization source. In a deployed profile, the at least one flexible membrane extends between the rear end of the first trailer and the front of the second trailer.

System for reducing aerodynamic drag forces on a tractor-trailer vehicle

A system for reducing drag on a trailer includes a flexible membrane including a perimeter coupled to a rear end of the trailer. A variable-volume cavity is defined between the flexible membrane and the rear end. The system also includes a source of pressurized gas coupled to the trailer and in fluidic communication with the variable-volume cavity, and a controller operable to control a flow of the pressurized gas from the source to the variable-volume cavity such that the flexible membrane is moved from a stowed profile, wherein the flexible membrane is collapsed against the rear end of the trailer, to a first deployed profile, wherein the flexible membrane is maintained in a first pre-selected tapered aerodynamic shape projecting rearward from the rear end.

System for reducing aerodynamic drag forces on a trailer

A vehicle includes a rear end and a flexible membrane that includes a perimeter. The perimeter is coupled to the rear end, wherein a seal is formed between the perimeter and the rear end. The vehicle also includes a pressurization source coupled to the vehicle, and at least one port defined in and extending through the rear end. The at least one port is enclosed by the perimeter and in fluidic communication with the pressurization source.

Apparatus and methods for propelling a multiple-wheeled golf bag cart over a terrain are described. In one embodiment, the apparatus is configured to be attached to a handle of the golf bag cart and further configured to be attached to the waist of a golfer. The apparatus includes a belt member for attachment to the waist of the golfer, a deformable member configured to be disposed between the cart handle and the belt member for controlling movement of the cart while the cart is being towed, and a mounting member for attachment to the handle for connecting the deformable member to the handle.

Methods and apparatus for manually propelling a golf pull cart

A video mixing system that is adapted to receive respective video and graphic control signals for controlling the display content on a video monitor. A video decoder processes the video and graphic control signals, thus making it possible to mix two or more video sources, one of which is typically an in-house data terminal source and the other of which is typically connected as a graphics option. At the output of the decoder is a gate means for providing selective voltage stepped intensity control signals for controlling the video monitor.
