The disclosed system identifies an unused medication and a current location of the unused medication, and determines that a new medication order can be prepared using the unused medication. Responsive to determining that the new medication order can be prepared using the unused medication, the system provides a preparation instruction to prepare the new medication order using the unused medication, determines a current geolocation of a global positioning system (GPS) receiver of a mobile device associated with a delivery person, the mobile device being remote from the one or more computing devices, determines based on the current geolocation of the GPS receiver of the mobile device and the unused medication, that the unused medication should be retrieved by the delivery person before or instead of a second medication, and provides, to the mobile device, an indication to retrieve the unused medication.

Medication workflow management

The disclosed system identifies a preparation status of a first and second medication. Based on the delivery time and the completion time for the second medication, the system determines whether the first medication should be delivered prior to delivering the second medication and, when determining that the second medication should delivered prior to delivering the first medication, a notification to deliver the second medication before delivering the first medication is sent to a display device.

Medication delivery management

Methods for managing preparation, delivery, and recycling of a medication for a patient are provided. In one aspect, a method includes interfacing with a medication preparation component, an inventory management component, a delivery management component, and a medication recycling management component. The medication preparation component fulfills a plurality of medication orders based on a first set of parameters. The medication preparation component cannot interface directly with the parameters for the other components. The method includes providing the medication preparation component the first set of parameters based on the parameters for the other components. In another aspect, a method includes receiving a plurality of medication orders, providing preparation instructions when a medication order cannot be fulfilled by unused medications, providing delivery instructions for the medications, and receiving delivery verifications. Machine-readable media are also provided.

The disclosed system receives a first indication that a first medication is available for delivery to a first location within a healthcare facility, and identifies a preparation status of a second medication. Based on the delivery time and the completion time for the second medication, the system determines whether the first medication should be delivered prior to completing the preparation of the second medication and, when determining that the first medication should not be delivered prior to completing the preparation of the second medication, a notification to wait for the preparation of the second medication before delivering the first medication is sent to a display device associated with a delivery person.

Methods for managing preparation of a medication for a patient are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving information indicative of an order for medication for a patient from an electronic data feed, and determining whether the order for medication for the patient can be filled with a returned medication. The method also includes providing a notification to fill the order with the returned medication when the determination indicates the order can be filled with a returned medication, and providing a notification to fill the order by preparing the medication when the determination indicates a returned medication is not available to fill the order. Methods for managing a delivery of prepared medications are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving first information includes a delivery deadline for a first medication, and receiving second information includes a preparation status of a second medication. The method also includes comparing the first information includes the delivery deadline for the first medication with the second information includes the preparation status of the second medication to determine whether the first medication should be indicated for delivery prior to completing preparation of the second medication, and providing a notification indicating when to deliver the first medication based on the determination. Methods for managing a return of a prepared medication are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving an identification of at least one returned medication delivered to a first location, and receiving an order for another medication. The method also includes determining whether the at least one returned medication is usable for completing the order of the other medication, and when the determination indicates that the at least one returned medication is usable for completing the order of the other medication, providing a notification indicating that the at least one returned medication is usable for completing the order of the other medication. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Managing re-use of returned medications

A system for component based aggregation of medication orders may include a processor and memory. The processor may receive display a queue that lists medication orders to be prepared by a healthcare professional, the medication orders indicating component medications that will be used to prepare the ordered medications. The processor may receive a selection of a first medication order listed in the queue, where the first medication order indicates a first component medication. The processor may determine a second medication order listed in the queue that indicates the first component medication. The processor may reorder the displayed queue such that the second medication order is listed adjacent to the first medication order. The processor may notify the healthcare professional of the second medication order, such as by displaying an indication of the second medication order separately from the queue.
