Systems and methods are provided for quality control for biological testing. One embodiment is a system that includes a liquid handler that applies samples of genetic material to a test plate comprising an array of wells, a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) device that amplifies the genetic material, and an analysis device that determines, based on a change in visual appearance of each well, a numerical value indicating whether a corresponding sample is representative of a disease state. The system also includes a quality assurance server that identifies a pattern of the numerical values, and determines a likelihood of the pattern. In an event that the likelihood is less than a threshold value, the quality assurance server flags the test plate as potentially contaminated, and in an event that the likelihood exceeds the threshold value, the quality assurance server refrains from flagging the test plate as potentially contaminated.

Method and system for identifying potential contaminants in test plates

A switched inductor DC-DC power converter chiplet includes a CMOS power switch, an LC filter, regulation circuitry, feedback control circuitry, and interface control circuitry integrated on a common substrate. The inductor for the LC filter can be formed on the same surface or on opposing surfaces of the substrate as the electrical terminations for the substrate. Another embodiment includes a switched inductor DC-DC power converter chiplet having a first powertrain phase and multiple second powertrain phases. When the load current is less than or equal to a threshold load current, the power conversion efficiency can be improved by only operating the first powertrain phase. When the load current is greater than the threshold load current, the power conversion efficiency can be improved by operating one or more second powertrain phases.

In one embodiment, a reversible anchoring device includes a base having a threaded shaft and an internal passage that extends through the base along a longitudinal direction of the base and a cap having a top surface, a bottom surface, a threaded circular opening formed in the bottom surface adapted to thread onto the threaded shaft of the base, and a suture opening that extends from the top surface of the cap to the threaded circular opening through which a suture can pass.

Examples described herein relate to calibration of an optical communications link. Data signals received over the optical communications link are measured to obtain an eye scan. A height of an upper eye region and a height of a lower eye region are compared in the eye scan. A common mode calibration value is adjusted based on any difference in the heights. A common mode adjustment circuit is then controlled based on the common mode calibration value. The common mode adjustment circuit is configured to remove a direct current bias within a receiver for the optical communications link.

Systems, platforms, methods and media for providing genomic services are disclosed. In one example, a genomic services platform comprises a network interface through which are received genomic sequence reads derived from a biological sample obtained from a user The platform also includes a bioinformatics processing pipeline including a read alignment module configured to generate observed sequence data by aligning the sequence reads relative to a reference sequence, a variant calling module operative to identify observed variants in the observed sequence data, and a variant refinement module for producing a set of refined variants associated with the user. A variant imputation module produces a set of imputed variants associated with the user, and a variant storage module disposed to receive a query from network infrastructure of a partner application provider and to provide selected ones of the refined or imputed variants in response to the query.

Genomic services platform supporting multiple application providers

Compositions are provided herein comprising a base polymer having engrafted with a secondary polymeric matrix having hydrophilic and lubricious copolymer brushes. Each copolymer brush further comprises functional groups immobilized along the surface of the brush in a plurality of layers, the functional groups conferring hydrophilic and lubricious properties to the base polymer. These polymer compositions are useful for e.g., fabricating devices for delivery of intraocular lenses (IOLs) as well as improving the hydrophilic properties of contact lenses.

The present invention provides a device and method for inserting an IOL into an eye of a patient. The IOL injector is configured to automatically load an IOL into the injector by folding and aligning the IOL into a lens cartridge of the injector without manual manipulation of the IOL by the physician during the procedure. The injector is configured to properly orient and align the IOL within the injector and maintain proper alignment throughout delivery of the IOL to the eye of a patient and thereby ensuring that the IOL is properly positioned and oriented at a predetermined location in the eye.

A switched-mode power converter includes timing control feedback loop circuits to minimize or eliminate the potential difference across a high-power switch and a low-power switch during their transitions times. A first feedback circuit compares the measured voltage across the high-power switch at the moment the high-power switch closes with the input voltage to the high-power switch to control a low-to-high delay time. A second feedback circuit compares the measured voltage across the low-power switch at the moment the low-power switch closes with the input voltage to the low-power switch to control a high-to-low delay time. A third feedback circuit compares the measured voltage across the low-power switch at the moment the low-power switch opens. The output of the third feedback circuit is provided as inputs to the first and second feedback circuits. The third feedback circuit also controls the frequency of the power converter.

An apparatus is provided that comprises photovoltaic cells provided on a first rotatable member, an electric motor having an axial shaft, and a second rotatable member provided with an impeller. The photovoltaic cells capture and convert the solar energy into electrical energy. The electric motor is connected to and is in electric communication with the photovoltaic cells for powering the electric motor. The electric motor converts the electrical energy into mechanical energy for rotating the photovoltaic cells in a first direction about a central axis and for rotating the axial shaft connected to an impeller in a second direction about the central axis. The rotating axial shaft rotates the impeller at high revolutions per minute which generates a flow of air that is directed to the rotating photovoltaic cells on the first rotatable member. The photovoltaic cells are cooled by the air-flow and operate at a lower temperature.
