Methods, systems, and computer readable media for utilizing an augmented neural network are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes utilizing a neural network (NN) pre-processor to convert generic coordinates associated with a dynamical system to canonical coordinates, concatenating a Hamiltonian neural network (HNN) to the NN pre-processor to create a generalized HNN, and training the generalized HNN to learn nonlinear dynamics present in the dynamical system from generic training data. The method also includes utilizing the trained generalized HNN to forecast the nonlinear dynamics, and quantifying chaotic behavior from the forecasted nonlinear dynamics to discover and map one or more transitions between orderly states and chaotic states exhibited by the dynamical system.

Physics augmented neural networks configured for operating in environments that mix order and chaos

A system can include a nonlinear circuit and a voltage decoder. The nonlinear circuit can perform an operation on an input voltage. The operation can be changed. A voltage decoder can be communicatively coupled to the nonlinear circuit for receiving an output voltage from the nonlinear circuit that results from the operation performed on the input voltage. The voltage decoder can compare the output voltage to a threshold voltage and determine a result of the operation.

Integrated circuit with a dynamics-based reconfigurable logic block

The present invention provides apparatuses and methods for chaos computing. For example, a chaos-based logic block comprises an encoding circuit block, at least one chaotic circuit block, a bias voltage generating circuit block, and a threshold circuit block. The encoding circuit block converts a plurality of digital inputs to an analog output. The plurality of digital inputs may comprise at least one data input and at least one control input. At least one chaotic circuit block is configured to iterate converting an input signal to an output signal by feeding the output signal to at least one chaotic circuit as the input signal at each iteration. The bias voltage generating circuit block converts a plurality of binary control inputs to a bias voltage. The threshold circuit block compares the output signal with a predetermined threshold, thereby generating a digital signal.

Reconfigurable logic gates using chaotic dynamics

A nanomechanical device, operating as a reprogrammable logic gate, and performing fundamental logic functions such as AND/OR and NAND/NOR. The logic function can be programmed (e.g., from AND to OR) dynamically, by adjusting the operating parameters of the resonator. The device can access one of two stable steady states, according to a specific logic function; this operation is mediated by the noise floor which can be directly adjusted, or dynamically tuned via an adjustment of the underlying nonlinearity of the resonator, i.e., it is not necessary to have direct control over the noise floor. The demonstration of this reprogrammable nanomechanical logic gate affords a path to the practical realization of a new generation of mechanical computers.

Noise-assisted reprogrammable nanomechanical logic gate and method

The present invention provides systems and methods for coupled dynamical systems for chaos computing. For example, a system for the coupled dynamical system comprises a first, second, and third circuit. The first circuit comprising a plurality of single dynamical systems forms a coupled dynamical system that reduces local noises in the plurality of single dynamical systems by diffusing the local noises across the coupled dynamical system. The second circuit, connected to the first circuit, receives the data and control inputs and builds an encoding map that translates the data and control inputs to an initial condition on an unstable manifold of the plurality of single dynamical systems in the coupled dynamical system. After the coupled dynamical system evolves, a third circuit, connected to the first circuit, samples a state of one of the plurality of single dynamical systems in the coupled dynamical system and builds a decoding map.

A method for providing a biological logic gate comprising the following steps: subjecting a bistable autoregulatory gene network (GRN) to a noisy background; identifying adjustable parameters of the GRN; using logical stochastic resonance to determine values of the GRN parameters which result in the GRN performing different logic gate functions; and setting the parameter values of the GRN such that the GRN performs a first logic gate function.

Neuronal excitation and inhibition of the brain is tracked in the hippocampal CA1 network during a latent period, wherein biomarkers are observed which include a sustained increase in the firing rate of the excitatory postsynaptic field activity, paired with a subsequent decrease in the firing rate of the inhibitory postsynaptic field activity; the mean amplitude profiles of both fEPSP and fEPSP field potential activity during the latent period have characteristic shapes; both excitatory and inhibitory CA1 field activity firing rates are observed to follow a circadian rhythm that drifts during epileptogenesis; the circadian rhythms described are in-phase in controls and anti-phase during epileptogenesis; and the fEPSP rate drifts from a circadian rhythm to a greater extent than the fEPSP rate. An additional biomarker is a change in a circadian rhythm of core body temperature. Therapeutic measures can include thermal, chemical, or electrical modulation, in an open or closed loop process.

Method and system for detecting epileptogenesis

A dynamical search engine for searching a database is also provided. The dynamical search engine includes an array of nonlinear dynamical elements. The nonlinear dynamical element information items in a manner that confines the state of each element on a fixed point and uniquely encodes the information items. The dynamical search engine also includes a controller for controlling electrical signals supplied to elements of the array in a predetermined sequence. One supplied signal increases a state value of each element of the array by a quantity defining a search key that corresponds to a searched-for information item. A subsequently supplied signal updates the state value of each element of the array by performing a nonlinear folding of each state value based on a predetermined pivot.

Non-linear dynamical search engine

A logic gate array for implementing logical expressions is provided. The array includes a dynamically configurable logic gate having a chaotic updater for causing the logic gate to alternately operate as one of a several different logic gate types, the dynamically configurable logic gate alternating from operating as one logic gate type to a different logic gate type in response to one or more reference signals. The array also includes one or more additional logic gates.

A logic gate implements logical expressions. A least one logic gate input receives at least one input logic gate signal and at least one control signal. At least one output for produces a logic gate output signal. A nonlinear updater operates as a dynamically configurable element to produce a plurality of different logic gates as selected by the control signal. The nonlinear updater includes a nonlinear updater output. The nonlinear updater is configured to apply a nonlinear function to the input logic gate signal to produce the nonlinear updater output signal representing a logical expression being implemented by one of the plurality of different logic gates on the input logic gate signal. A comparator includes a comparator input that is adapted to receive a reference threshold value for producing the logical gate output signal based on a comparison of the nonlinear output signal to the reference threshold value.

Logic based on the evolution of nonlinear dynamical systems

A logic gate is adapted to implement logical expressions. The logic gate includes at least one input that is adapted to receive an input signal and at least one control signal. At least one of the input signal and the control signal is a noise signal. At least one output is adapted to produce an output signal. A nonlinear updater operates as a dynamically configurable element and produces multiple different logic gates as selected by the control signal based at least in part on the noise signal. The nonlinear updater is electrically coupled to the input and is also electrically coupled to the output. The nonlinear updates is configured to apply a nonlinear function to the input signal in response to the control signal to produce the output signal representing a logical expression being implemented by one of the multiple different logic gates on the input signal.

Method and apparatus for a chaotic computing module

This invention exploits the synchronization properties of coupled, nonlinear oscillators arrays to perform power combining, beam steering, and beam shaping. This architecture utilizes interactions between nonlinear active elements to generate beam patterns. A nonlinear array integrates the signal processing concurrently with the transduction of the signal. This architecture differs fundamentally from passive transducer arrays in three ways: 1) the unit cells are nonlinear, 2) the array purposely couples the unit cells together, and 3) the signal processing (beam steering and shaping) is done via dynamic interactions between unit cells. The architecture extends to both 1- and 2-dimensional arrays.
