Continuous Glucose Error-Grid Analysis (CG-EGA) method, system or computer program product designed for evaluation of continuous glucose sensors providing frequent BG readings. The CG-EGA estimates the precision of such sensors/devices in terms of both BG values and temporal characteristics of BG fluctuation. The CG-EPA may account for, among other things, specifics of process characterization (location, speed and direction), and for biological limitations of the observed processes (time lags associated with interstitial sensors).

A method for attaching a porous metal layer to a dense metal substrate, wherein the method is particularly useful in forming orthopedic implants such as femoral knee components or acetabular cups. The method, in one embodiment thereof, comprises providing a structured porous layer; providing a dense metal substrate; providing a binding mixture; applying the binding mixture to the exterior of the substrate; placing the porous layer against the substrate such that the binding mixture is disposed there between forming an assembly; and heat treating the assembly to metallurgically bond the porous layer to the substrate.

The invention relates to a method which utilizes blood glucose ('BG') sampling, insulin infusion/injection records, heart rate ('HR') information and heart rate varability (&#x201c;HRV&#x201d;) information to estimate BG in the near future and to estimate of the risk of the onset of hypoglycemia. The invention also relates to an apparatus for predicting BG levels and for assessing the risk of the onset of hypoglycemia in the near future. The invention is based on two predetermined bio-mathematical routines: a network model of BG fluctuations and a BG profile for assessment of the risk of hypoglycemia.

The particles and molecules of biological origin include bacteria, viruses, cells, organelles, chromosomes, and the like.

A method for the control and destruction of agricultural pest organisms comprising generating a selected EM radiation at a plurality of different frequencies, pulse widths, and intensities for application on pest organisms, coupling the EM radiation to selected cellular organelles, organelle membranes, or cell membranes of the pest organism, disrupting an ionic balance within the cellular organelles, organelle membranes, or cell membranes, and initiating an increase in cation concentration within the membranes or organelles. The cation concentration is sustained until the pest organism is destroyed. A system and apparatus are also disclosed where an oscillator operably coupled to a broad band linear amplifier generate selected EM radiation frequencies to be applied to pest organisms. The oscillator is preferably a frequency-hopping RF oscillator and is communicatively linked to an antenna coupled to a reflector and shield for focusing the EM radiation.

An invention is described in which a method and apparatus are disclosed for guiding, trapping, concentrating and separating particles. The method comprises containing particles in a gas, liquid, or other fluid medium, projecting a beam of light into the particles, inducing the beam of light to impart a spinning motion to the particles, generating a field density gradient in the fluid medium thereby trapping the particles in the beam of light, guiding the particles on the beam of light, concentrating the particles at a focal plane of the beam, and if desired, separating the particles into groups by size and density. Particles are caused to spin and interact with the energy gradient of the beam of light, causing them to orbit in a controlled manner. A preferred apparatus utilizes a chamber, a switching mechanism under a vacuum or partial vacuum, a light source such as a laser or a plurality of lasers, and a lens or a plurality of lenses may be used. Other embodiments utilize various light sources with or without lenses.

Methods and electronic apparatus for recovering relatively high-resolution information from a partial wave representation of an information signal. According to the invention, there is provided a method of operating on a given partial wave function, or of producing a partial wave representation of an information signal as part of the method. Portions of the partial wave representation of the information signal are synchronously selected as by signal sampling under control of an interpolated high frequency clock. An inverse partial wave representation of the selected portions of the transformed signal is then performed, and the inverse partial wave representation is linearly deconvolved to produce a high resolution equivalent of high-resolution information signal. The invention may include an analytic converter for removing the effects of any dispersion of the partial wave representation. While the concepts involved are universally adaptable to signal processing systems, preferred embodiments of the invention as applied to a modem network and to an interferometer are described.

The present invention relates to a circular saw blade comprising a first annular saw blade having a plurality of teeth projecting radially from the periphery thereof and a second circular saw blade having a plurality of teeth projecting radially from the periphery thereof.
