A heat exchanger tube bundle extractor having an improved sled and motive means operable to move the tube bundle into or out of its shell. A fixed screw shaft is provided on the chassis, and a rotatable drive nut on the sled. The drive nut is threadedly retained on the screw shaft. The drive nut is held against axial movement with respect to the sled by a gear box disposed on the sled. The gear box output includes a rotating shaft to which the drive nut is connected, which provides the drive nut with the appropriate speed and power to effectively pull the tube bundle from, or push it back into, the shell. A balance nut disposed on the opposite end of the drive shaft from the drive nut, and threadedly engaged with the screw shaft, reacts against side forces on the sled and screw shaft to assist in keeping the drive nut and screw shaft properly aligned. All of the power generation, conversion, and control equipment for operating the sled drive, a hydraulic breakout cylinder, and a hydraulic elevator is located on the sled itself in a compact and self-contained arrangement, and is movable along with the sled. This eliminates the piping, cabling, and related power equipment from the chassis. The present invention exhibits a low unit weight to pulling/pushing power ratio, and a low unit weight to load capacity ratio.

Tube bundle extractor

The tubing injection apparatus of the present invention includes a frame upon which is mounted a pair of opposed endless flexible conveyor members. The conveyor members have opposed elongated parallel runs spaced apart to form a path for engagement with the tubing by gripper blocks disposed on the conveyor members. The conveyor members are trained over spaced apart drive sprockets and idler wheels. Rollers are reciprocally disposed on the frame adjacent that side of the opposed elongated parallel runs opposite the path and adapted for engagement with the gripper blocks. The conveyor members include two strands of chain having projecting pins. The gripper blocks are mounted on the projecting pins such that the surface of the projecting pins is coincident with that surface of the gripper blocks which engages the rollers. Hydraulic piston and cylinder assemblies inserted on the frame have rams adapted to engage the rollers so that the rollers may engage the gripper blocks upon actuation of the hydraulic piston and cylinder assemblies. The piston and cylinder assemblies are connected to a common fluid pressure source. The rollers apply a varied force against the gripper blocks such that the gripper blocks grip that portion of the tubing along the path adjacent the well with less force than that portion of the tubing on the path further away from the well.

Apparatus for inserting and withdrawing coil tubing into a well

A dual active selector valve is set forth. In the preferred and illustrated embodiment, a flange supporting a manifold body is attached to a pressure vessel. The passage through the flange has a selected diameter and the manifold body opens out to a larger diameter, sufficient to enable two valves to be connected side by side, having inlet passages equal in diameter to about one half the selected diameter. A rotatable conduit member is mounted within the manifold body having a centrally located pin for rotation, the rotatable portion incorporating separate flow passages selectively connecting to one of the two alternately deployed valves, and also supporting a valve closure plate to plug the passageway into the valve not being used.

Dual active selector valve

A non-flowing pilot valve (16) for a control valve (C) in a main flow line (F) having a body (27) with an inlet fluid chamber (76), an outlet fluid chamber (106) and an intermediate fluid chamber (104) between the inlet fluid chamber (76) and the outlet fluid chamber (106). Diaphragm (34) in the fluid inlet chamber (76) is secured to a piston slidable body (40) extending within intermediate fluid chamber (104) and having a valve seat (88) thereon between inlet fluid chamber (76) and intermediate fluid chamber (104). A second fixed valve seat (64) is provided within the body (40) between the intermediate fluid chamber (104) and the outlet fluid chamber (106). A valve spool (92) has a pair of O-ring seals (94, 96) thereabout adapted to seal against the valve seats (88, 64). Unseating of the O-ring seals (94, 96) from the seats (88, 64) results from predetermined pressure changes in the sensed fluid pressure in fluid pressure chamber (76) and communicating such pressure changes through a fluid line (22) from the intermediate fluid chamber (104) to the control valve (C). An embodiment shown in FIG. 11 provides a delayed response to the control valve resulting from pressure changes in the sensed fluid pressure. The delayed response is obtained by a flow restriction (150) in a line (148) from an intermediate fluid chamber portion (144) which is separated by a diaphragm (140) from a balancing intermediate fluid portion (142).

Non-flowing pressure responsive pilot valve

A valve manifold (18) between a main flow line (10) and a differential pressure transmitter (24) having a body (40) with a bore (48) in which three spherical ball valve members (72, 74, 76) are mounted for rotation among run, zero and calibration positions. A low pressure calibrating port (28) and a high pressure calibrating port (46) are controlled by calibration valve member (76). Low pressure calibrating port (28) is connected to a source of a predetermined low pressure calibrating fluid and high pressure calibrating fluid port (46) is connected to a source of a predetermined high pressure calibrating fluid to calibrate transmitter (24) between any desired low pressure and high pressure ranges. Low pressure calibrating port (28) and high pressure calibrating port (46) may be selectively connected to atmospheric pressure if desired and the calibrating fluids may be controlled from a remote control site (26).
