An information technology equipment enclosure comprises a plurality of IT components, cold plates disposed over at least two of the IT components, and a cooling fluid manifold disposed within the IT equipment enclosure. The coolant liquid manifold has multiple input connectors and multiple output connectors. Each of the cold plates are coupled to the cooling fluid manifold using a coolant line attached to one of the input connectors and a coolant line attached to one of the output connectors. An input cooling liquid line couples the coolant liquid manifold to an output of an external liquid cooling system, and an output liquid line couples the coolant liquid manifold to an input of the external liquid cooling system. The coolant liquid manifold is configured to receive cooling fluid from the external liquid cooling system and to distribute the cooling fluid to all of the cold plates via the input connectors.

Systems and methods for safe handling of information handling resources are provided. In some embodiments, a method is provided. The method may include detecting occurrence of a power down sequence and in response to detecting of the power down sequence, controlling operation of a cooling fan coupled to information handling resources based at least on a first criteria of a predetermined policy. The method may include receiving a signal from a sensor, the signal indicating a thermal property of a particular information handling resource coupled to the sensor. The method may include determining if the thermal property satisfies a second criteria of the predetermined policy, the second criteria comprising a safe temperature range for handling the particular information handling resource. If the thermal property meets the second criteria, the method may provide an alert via an indicator to a user indicating the particular information handling resource is safe for handling.

System and method for safe handling of information handling resources by monitoring thermal properties of resources

An information handling system includes a processor, memory coupled to the processor, a cooling fan, and a controller coupled to the processor and configured to control the speed of the cooling fan based on the operation of the memory. The processor is configured to determine a user-selected performance setting for the information handling system; determine a fan speed limit corresponding to the user selected performance setting; limit the speed of the cooling fan based on the determined fan speed limit; and in connection with limiting the speed of the cooling fan, control an operational parameter of the memory to reduce cooling demands generated by the memory.

Systems and methods for dynamic fan speed control in an information handling system

A synthetic air jet cooling system includes a first component. A fan is in fluid communication with the first component. A synthetic air jet is located adjacent the first component. A thermal management engine is coupled to the first component, the fan, and the synthetic air jet. The thermal management engine is operable to receive a first component operating condition, compare the first component operating condition to a target operating condition, and increase a fan fluid flow rate from the fan and a synthetic air jet fluid flow rate from the synthetic air jet in order to reduce the difference between the first component operating condition the target operating condition. The thermal management engine increases the synthetic air jet fluid flow rate from the synthetic air jet to a predetermined synthetic air jet fluid flow rate prior to increasing the fan fluid flow rate from the fan in order to provide improvements in power consumption, airflow, and acoustics.

An information handling system can include cooling devices that are organized into zones. A method of using an information handling system can include setting a cooling level for each cooling device. Each zone can be associated with thermal data or regions within the information handling system, and a cooling demand can be determined for the thermal data or regions. A zone cooling level for each zone corresponds to a higher cooling demand from each zone's associated thermal regions, and a cooling device cooling level corresponds to a higher zone cooling level from each cooling device's associated zones. The method can be embodied as machine executable code for an information handling system. An information handling system can include cooling devices associated with zones, and can operate to set a cooling level for each cooling device by determining cooling demands in response to information regarding thermal energy generated by an electrical sub-assembly.

A fan housing includes a shroud defining an air passageway. A housing member is located adjacent the air passageway and moveably coupled to the shroud such that the housing member is moveable relative to the shroud between an operating position and a service position. A fan housing is defined by the housing member, whereby the fan housing is inaccessible when the housing member is in the operating position and the fan housing is accessible when the housing member is in the service position. The shroud and housing member may be coupled to an information handling system chassis and adjacent a heat producing component. A fan may then be positioned in the fan housing when the housing member is in the service position. The housing member is then moved to the operating position and the fan is operated in order to cool the heat producing component.
