An assembly of a drain plug for a dishwasher is disclosed, comprising a hollow stem portion and a drain plug body. A double O-ring is provided to seat and seal the ball body into a drain pipe, and to make a light, sliding fit with the interior of the drain pipe. The sliding fit guides the assembly during vertical movement and enables the assembly to maintain a vertical position without tilting. When the O-rings become worn, they are replaced, rather than having to discard the entire assembly.

Drain plug assembly for dishwasher, and the like

A device is disclosed to enable the safe insertion and removal of a container of solid or powdered detergent cleaner into a detergent dispenser such as for a dishwasher. The device includes a bowl portion and a central, upstanding water spray outlet near the bottom of the bowl which ejects water into the container to remove the detergent from the container, or from bulk powder fed into the bowl. The spray outlet is occluded by a cover plate which is mounted on a screen which retains the powdered detergent, and the cover plate functions to occlude the spray outlet and horizontally deflect the water spray. This prevents the ejection from the dispenser of water, steam, detergents and chemical solution.

Dispenser for solid and powdered detergent

A device is disclosed for safely inserting and removing a container of solid or powder detergent cleaner into a detergent dispenser such as for a dishwasher. The device includes a bowl portion and a central, upstanding water spray outlet near the bottom of the bowl which ejects water into the container to remove the detergent from the container, or from bulk powder fed into the bowl. One or more fingers is attached to the inside of the bowl and is biased inwardly by a spring to occlude the spray outlet. When the container of detergent is inserted into the bowl, it biases the finger outwardly and exposes the spray outlet to the detergent. Upon removal of the container from the bowl, it will move out of contact with the finger, which is again biased inwardly by the spring to occlude the spray outlet and protect the operator. Dissolved detergent and wet powder and particles are deposited on, and seep through, a perforated plate or screen adjacent the spray outlet. Solid detergent on the plate is rapidly mixed in a vortex of swirling water in the bowl that is formed by spray jets positioned below the plate, and the mixture of slurry and solution is flushed directly into a wash tank of the dishwasher.

Dispenser for solid and powered detergent

A peristaltic detergent feed pump and peristaltic rinse feed pump are employed to supply their respective ingredients to a washing machine, chemical reactor, or the like. The detergent feed is supplied by a peristaltic pump, and the amount of feed is detected by a sensor such as a conductance probe controlled by a special circuitry means. The peristaltic rinse feed pump is driven by a shaded pole motor, comprising a constant torque, A.C. drive and a D.C. electromagnetic, shaded pole brake portion. The net effect of employing a circuit controlled conductance sensor and D.C. brake enables the detergent and rinse ingredients to be fed linearly to the dishwasher.

Feed control system for pumping fluids to dishwashers and the like

A peristaltic feed pump, driven by a shaded pole motor, is provided to feed sticky, thixotropic fluids such as soaps, detergents, rinse additives, etc., to a dishwasher, chemical reactor, and the like. The shaded pole motor comprises a constant torque, A.C. portion and a D.C. electromagnetic brake portion. The net effect of the motor enables the fluid to be fed to the dishwasher by the pump within reasonable limits of linearity.
