A composite textile fabric that includes a first (face) fabric layer, and a second (back) fabric layer that is formed concurrently with the first fabric layer in a plaited construction. The second fabric includes a plurality of anchored regions at which the second fabric layer is anchored to, and in intimate contact with, the first fabric layer. The second fabric layer also includes a plurality of floating regions, overlying and unattached to the first fabric layer, interspersed between the anchored regions.

Composite textile fabrics

A velour fabric article consists of a fabric body having a technical face formed by a filament stitch yarn and a technical back formed by a filament loop yarn. The filament stitch yarn includes a heat sensitive material, e.g. a hot melt material or a heat shrinkable material, and/or an elastomeric material, such as spandex. The fabric body has a velour surface formed at at least the technical back. The fabric body has permeability of about 80 ft/ft/min, or less, under a pressure difference of &#xbd; inch of water across the fabric body.

Velour fabric articles having improved dynamic insulation performance

Methods are described for forming unitary fabric elements for use in engineered thermal fabric articles, including, but not limited to, thermal fabric garments, thermal fabric home textiles, and thermal fabric upholstery covers, and for forming these engineered thermal fabric articles, having predetermined discrete regions of contrasting insulative capacity positioned about the thermal fabric article in correlation to insulative requirements of a user's body. In one implementation, loop yarn in first regions is formed to a first pile height, and loop yarn in other regions is formed to another, different, relatively greater pile height. In another implementation, loop yarn having a first shrinkage performance is formed in first regions to a predetermined loop height, and loop yarn having another, different shrinkage performance is formed in other regions to the predetermined loop height, or other loop height; the loops are cut and finished to a common pile height and the continuous web is exposed to heat to cause loop yarn to shrink to one or more different pile heights.

A double-face velour fabric article consists of a fabric body having a technical face formed by a filament stitch yarn and a technical back formed by a filament loop yarn. The filament stitch yarn includes a heat sensitive material, e.g. a hot melt material or a heat shrinkable material, and/or an elastomeric material, such as spandex. The fabric body has a velour surface formed at both the technical back and the technical face. A composite textile fabric for rapidly moving moisture away from the skin, and for retaining body heat, is provided. The composite fabric includes an inner fabric layer made of a yarn comprising a plurality of fibers primarily of polyester or other synthetic yarns which have been rendered hydrophilic, and an outer fabric layer made of a yarn comprising a plurality of fibers primarily of polyester or other synthetic yarns which have also been rendered hydrophilic. The inner fabric layer and the outer fabric layer are formed concurrently by knitting a plaited construction so that the layers are distinct and separate, yet integrated one with the other. The yarn fibers of the inner fabric layer are embedded with particles of a refractory carbide, or may be treated by metal vapor deposition to enhance the retention of body heat.

Fabrics, formed, for example, by joining stitch and loop yarns to form a fabric prebody, with the loop yarn forming in loops that overlay the stitch yarn at the technical face and back of the fabric prebody, and thereafter finishing the fabric prebody to form raised fleece at both surfaces, have a first surface and an opposite, second surface of contrasting, i.e., different, colors. Regions of one or both surfaces may be treated to resist raising so that design elements of the raised or fleece regions stand out in relief, forming surface(s) with contour. Methods of forming the fabrics are also described.

Fabrics with surfaces of contrasting colors and/or different contour

A composite textile fabric for removing moisture from the skin is provided. The composite fabric includes an inner, first fabric layer comprising either a polyester, polypropylene, acrylic or nylon yam material which is naturally, or has been rendered, hydrophilic and an outer, second fabric layer incorporating either a moisture-absorbent material such as cotton or a synthetic yarn which has been rendered hydrophilic, or a combination thereof. The first and second fabric layers are formed concurrently by knitting a plaited construction. The second fabric layer, but not the first layer, is blended with synthetic fibers treated to have antimicrobial properties or the second fabric layer is treated with an anti-microbial paste. An elastomeric yarn material may be added to both layers so that the composite fabric is stretchable.

Anti-microbial enhanced knit fabric

A composite textile fabric for removing moisture away from the skin is provided. The composite fabric includes a first fabric layer comprising either a polyester, acrylic or nylon material which is naturally, or has been rendered, hydrophilic and a second fabric layer incorporating either a moisture-absorbent material such as cotton, or a synthetic yarn which has been rendered hydrophilic, or a combination thereof. The first and second fabric layers are formed concurrently by knitting a plaited construction. The second fabric layer is exclusively blended with treated synthetic fibers having anti-microbial properties. An elastomeric yarn material may be added to both layers so that the composite fabric is stretchable.
