Designs and methods are provided for a hard armor structure comprising a symmetrical array of regularly shaped armor tiles, and a lattice structure comprising rigid cell walls surrounding each tile.

Methods and apparatus are provided for an energy attenuating mounting system configured for attaching a container to a vehicle bed at a plurality of discrete mounting points around the container. The mounting system may include a bracket attached to the container at each mounting point, and a plastically deformable energy attenuating member extending from an upper end attached to the bracket, to a lower end attached to the vehicle bed substantially below a bottom of the container, thereby supporting the container in an elevated position. The energy attenuating member is configured to remain rigid and un-deformed if a load carried by the energy attenuating member is below a threshold value, and to attenuate energy by plastically deforming in a predictable manner if the load exceeds the threshold value.

Energy attenuating container mounting system

Methods and apparatus are provided for a mounting system for attaching a container to a vehicle adapted to resist loads imparted by the container to the mounting system in sequential stages. In one exemplary mounting system a first spring is configured to elastically compress when subjected to an initiation load that exceeds a load imparted to the first spring by the container under static conditions. The first spring may have a useable load range from the initiation load to a maximum load at which the first spring is fully bottomed out. A first deformable member is disposed serially with respect to the first spring, and configured to remain substantially un-deformed until subjected to a first deformation threshold load that equals or exceeds the maximum load at which the first spring is fully bottomed out. A second deformable member may be disposed serially with respect to the first deformable member, and configured to remain substantially un-deformed until subjected to a second deformation threshold load that substantially exceeds the first deformation threshold load.

Designs and methods are provided for a hybrid image camouflage comprising a micro camouflage pattern of primarily fine features and a macro camouflage pattern of primarily coarse features. The patterns may be combined such that the appearance of the micro pattern predominates at close range, and the appearance of the macro pattern predominates at long range.

Designs and methods are provided for a hard armor panel with enhanced energy absorption. In one embodiment the hard armor panel includes a rigid strike plate having a front side and a back side, the front side facing an anticipated ballistic threat; and a consolidated ballistic fabric backing also having a front side and a back side, the front side of the ballistic fabric backing adhered to the back side of the rigid strike plate. The armor panel may further include an energy absorbing layer attached to or incorporated within the hard armor panel, wherein the energy absorbing layer is made of a deformable material configured with an energy absorbing pattern.

Designs and methods are provided for a convertible fighting vehicle. In one embodiment the vehicle includes a drivable chassis having a standardized bed with mounting surfaces and a suite of interface connections for utility coupling. A mission module is adapted to attach to the bed mounting surfaces and couple with the suite of interface connections, wherein the mission module is configured in one of several mission specific forms.

A ballistic armor assembly for a vehicle-mounted explosives carrier includes an assembly substrate and a ballistic composite. The assembly substrate is adapted for covering at least a portion of the explosives carrier, and has opposing inside and outside surfaces. The ballistic composite is secured to the outside surface of the assembly substrate. The ballistic composite includes a hard armor facing proximate a threat side of the ballistic armor assembly, and a flexible fabric backing proximate a protection side of the ballistic armor assembly.

Ballistic armor assembly for vehicle-mounted explosive carrier

Designs and methods are provided for a reversible, textile-based tactical article. In one embodiment the tactical article comprises a textile based panel perforated with an array of slots arranged in vertical and horizontal, spaced apart rows. The panel may be adapted for attaching accessories to either side by lacing a strap through a row of the slots and through webbing loops on the accessory positioned between the slots. One side of the panel may have a first appearance, and the other side a second appearance that is different from the first appearance.

System for attaching accessories to tactical gear

Methods and apparatus are provided for a mounting system adapted to attenuate a shock load imparted by a structure to an object being supported by the structure. In one exemplary embodiment the mounting system comprises a mounting plate with a perimeter portion, a central boss, and an array of at least two symmetrically arranged perforations extending through the mounting plate between the perimeter portion and the central boss. The perforations are arranged so as to cooperatively define at least two deformable links that interconnect the central boss with the perimeter portion of the mounting plate, wherein the deformable links are adapted to attenuate the shock load through plastic deformation.

Methods and apparatus are provided for a seamless ballistic resistant helmet. In one exemplary embodiment the helmet comprises high performance fibers consolidated with a matrix material and arranged in a plurality of substantially seamless layers.

A variable displacement seating assembly incorporates at least first and second pivotable seat frames. The first seat frame includes a male seat connector. The second seat frame is arranged adjacent the first seat frame, and includes a female seat connector receiving the male seat connector of the first seat frame. The first and second seat frames are operatively interconnected for simultaneous pivoting movement between a stowed position and a deployed position. In the deployed position of the first and second seat frames, the male and female seat connectors are disposed for sliding vertical movement of one seat connector relative to the other, such that the first and second seat frames are independently vertically displaceable upon an impact force acting against the seat assembly.

A hard armor composite includes a rigid facing and a ballistic fabric backing. The fabric backing is carried by the facing, and includes an array of bundled high-performance fibers. The fibers have a tensile strength greater than 7 grams per denier and a denier per filament ratio of less than 5.4.

Armor apparatus comprising a non-oxide ceramic element bounded to an aramid fiber composite baking. A special ceramic and a novel aramid fiber substrate are combined in a unique arrangement that permits a single armor system to provide protection against multiple types of ballistic attack. The armor apparatus may be used alone or as a supplementary armor system to provide increased protection from ballistic attack.
