A wall bed is configured to allow a user to maximize a living space with a functional bed that can transform from daytime use to nighttime use. The wall bed is configured to function and serve a plurality of purposes as an entertainment center, a bedroom, or an office and is easily operable between these purposes with simple movements. The wall bed system comprises of a fireplace that has an embedded television which can function both as a television and be used to simulate an active fire via an external source connected to the television. Additionally, the fireplace feature may be removed with ease and transferred to another part of the room. The wall bed also comprises of an adjustable workstation where a height of the workstation may be adjusted to suit a user to work either standing up or sitting down. The wall bed also comprises of a bed and other fixtures such as and not limited to a mirror and an artwork.

Multiple embodiments of a system are disclosed for defeating enemy missiles and rockets by the use of a non-lethal cloud of pellets that collide with the missile a certain distance away from the target causing premature detonation of the missile, and/or possible severe damage to the missile, and/or deflection of the missile, and/or a deformation to the ogive cones to cause a short in the fuze circuit, and/or deposition of conductive material to cause a short in the fuze circuit.

A method for stabilizing a spine includes providing a coupling element having upper and lower ends, a rod receiving opening adapted to receive an elongated stabilizing rod, a bore extending through the lower end and a seat surrounding the bore adjacent the lower end; providing a fastener having upper and lower ends, a head having a radial surface, and at least one anchoring element between the lower end of the fastener and the head; assembling the fastener with the coupling element; anchoring the fastener to bone; moving the coupling element relative to the fastener for capturing the elongated stabilizing rod in the rod receiving opening; and urging the captured stabilizing rod toward the head of the fastener so that the rod contacts the head and forces the radial surface of the head against the seat.

A method for stabilizing a spine includes providing a coupling element having upper and lower ends, a rod receiving opening adapted to receive an elongated stabilizing rod, a bore extending through the lower end and a conical-shaped seat surrounding the bore adjacent the lower end; providing a fastener having upper and lower ends, a head having a radial surface, and at least one anchoring element between the lower end of the fastener and the head; assembling the fastener with the coupling element so that the lower end of the fastener passes through the bore of the coupling element and the radial surface of the head engages the conical-shaped seat. The method also includes anchoring the fastener to bone; moving the coupling element relative to the fastener for capturing the elongated stabilizing rod in the rod receiving opening; and urging the captured stabilizing rod toward the head of the fastener so that the rod contacts the head and forces the radial surface of the head against the conical-shaped seat of the coupling element for locking the coupling element from further movement relative to the fastener.

An intervertebral disk prosthesis comprising two plates and a cushion interposed between the plates is contemplated. The cushion includes a compressible body having two ends in contact with the plates. At least one of the plates comprises at least one stud for stressing the body along a direction not parallel to a main access of the prosthesis and mobile relative to the body. Thus the prosthesis imitates and approximates the mechanical properties of a healthy natural intervertebral disk.

A stabilizing assembly includes a fastener having an upper end and a lower end, a head at the upper end, and at least one anchoring element extending between the upper and lower ends. The head includes a center, an underside including a first radial surface and a top side including a second radial surface. The first radial surface of the head defines a first radius from the center of the head and the second radial surface defines a second radius from the center of the head, the first radius being greater than the second radius. The assembly also includes a coupling element having an upper end and a lower end, the coupling element including a rod receiving opening extending from the upper end thereof being adapted to receive a stabilizing rod, a bore extending through the lower end of the coupling element for receiving the fastener, and a conical-shaped seat adjacent the lower end of the coupling element adapted to engage the first radial surface of the head when the fastener is positioned in the bore. A locking element associated with the coupling element is adapted to apply a force upon a stabilizing rod positioned in the rod receiving opening. As a force is applied to a stabilizing rod, the rod in turn, engages the second radial surface at the top side of the head for forcing the underside of the head against the conical-shaped seat of the coupling element so as to prevent further pivotal and rotational movement of the fastener and the coupling element relative to one another. In certain embodiments, the fastener may be a screw fastener having screw threads. In other embodiments, the fastener may include a hook.

A spine stabilization device is placed between adjacent vertebral bodies of the vertebrae of a spine to maintain a desired orientation and spacing between the adjacent vertebral bodies and support the adjacent vertebral bodies for fusion at the desired orientation and spacing. The stabilization device includes a plate adapted for fixation to the sides of adjacent vertebral bodies, and at least two legs attached to the plate which are adapted for disposal between the adjacent vertebral bodies to provide support therebetween, there being a space between two of the legs such that together with the plate a U shape is formed as viewed superior to inferior.
