Grounding assemblies for cables entering telecommunications enclosures. The grounding assemblies include a cable fixation subassembly and a grounding subassembly that are electrically coupled together to ground strength members and a conductive shield of a cable. The cable fixation subassembly can fixate the cable such that the strength members lie in a plane that is at a non-zero angle relative to each of a horizontal reference plane and a vertical reference plane.

A method for securing a fiber optic component includes: providing a holding medium having a tack and mounted on a substrate; and placing the fiber optic component in intimate contact with the holding medium to thereby secure the fiber optic component to the substrate. A system that protects telecommunications equipment from AC power faults and voltage transients comprising (1) a high-energy foldback device between the current-carrying lines of a telephone system and ground; (2) a voltage clamping device between the current-carrying lines; (3) a foldback device between the current-carrying lines and ground; (4) a first overcurrent protection device connected in series with the above foldback device; and (5) a second overcurrent protection device in the lines between the high-energy foldback device and the above mentioned serially connected foldback device and first overcurrent protection device. The system may be used, for example, with standard telephone lines, PBX out-of-building lines, special service lines such as carrier, pair-gain, and high speed data, and dedicated voice-band services such as pay phones and traffic-control communication lines.

System for protecting telecommunications equipment from transient voltages

A line protector is provided which includes positive temperature coefficient resistors in the circuit which are thermally coupled to voltage clamping devices which require protection from failures caused by overheating from conducting excessive amounts of current for a time sufficient to cause device breakdown. This may compensate for the performance variability of the positive temperature coefficient resistors so as to improve the likelihood that they will experience a sufficient temperature increase to switch before the voltage clamping device reaches a breakdown temperature. Furthermore, a line protector which may provide protection against current flow to the communications circuit from overvoltage conditions on the circuit side of the line protector or by a ground potential difference between the line protector and the communications circuit is also provided including positive temperature coefficient resistors positioned between the overvoltage line protector circuits and the communications circuit.
