Apparatus and methods for the measurement and transmission of data pertaining to the tissue of an animal. In one embodiment, there is an implantable device that is wirelessly powered and also wirelessly transmits data. Preferably, the implant measures neuromuscular activity.

A wireless power transfer system is disclosed. Miniature stent-based implantable wireless monitoring devices

Certain pressure sensor devices are much smaller than prior art devices, yet are at least as sensitive as the prior art devices. A capacitive pressure sensor can include a flexible substrate that permits bending of a pressure sensing region without significantly affecting operation thereof. The pressure sensor can include a flexible membrane in which an electrode is sandwiched between two layers of polymeric material. The sandwiched electrode can be extremely close to a reference electrode so as to provide for highly sensitive capacitance readings, yet the membrane can be restricted from contacting the reference electrode under high pressure conditions.

A tunable filter having an electronically tunable center frequency and dynamic bandwidth control over a large tuning range. High-Q continuously tunable evanescent-mode cavity resonators and filters using reliable RF MEMS actuators. One embodiment is a 3.4-6.2 GHz (1.8:1 tuning ratio) continuously tunable electrostatic MEMS resonator with quality factor of 460-530, with a volume of 18&#xd7;30&#xd7;4 mm including the actuation scheme and biasing lines. A tunable resonators is also disclosed with a 2.8:1 (5.0-1.9 GHz) tuning ratio, and Q of 300-650.

An anisotropic conductive adhesive (ACA) arrangement is disclosed, including a thermosetting resin disposed between a connector of a first structure and a connector of a second structure, and a plurality of ferromagnetic conductive particles dispersed through the thermosetting resin, wherein the plurality of ferromagnetic conductive particles form columns between the connector of the first structure and the connector of the second structure, and wherein a density of the ferromagnetic particles in the columns is substantially higher than a density of the plurality of ferromagnetic particles away from the columns.

Controlled self assembly of anisotropic conductive adhesives based on ferromagnetic particles

A field programmable filter array with high spectral isolation and reconfigurability. A bank of resonators can be programmed at will and on the fly to give any type of filtering response. The order, type and bandwidth of the filter are electronically reconfigured. Each subset of resonators can switch between bandstop and bandpass configurations and form custom filter shapes consisting of combinations of bandstop and bandpass filters. The filter can include a unit cell of a resonator with a series of switches to enable coupling to any of its nearest neighbors. The path in which the flow of energy takes through the array of resonators is dynamic, and the filtering function which is created is dialable on demand.

The invention herein generally relates to non-destructive, high order harmonic ion motion image current detection. In certain embodiments, ion motion corresponding to high order harmonic frequencies, instead of the secular frequencies, is detected using image current detection with a constant excitation applied to the waveform signal.

Methods and apparatus that provide grade-level RF transceivers for use in trans-grade wireless communication networks. The methods involve incorporating slot antennas into grade-level opening covers, such as manhole covers, to provide built-in antennas for transceivers that may be connected by transmission lines. The grade-level transceivers use coupling mechanisms to connect transceivers to the slot antennas by way of transmission feed lines. Multi-slot grade-level transceivers use switching mechanisms to switch between multiple slot antennas. Certain embodiments may also include adaptable RF circuitry. Trans-grade wireless communication networks use these grade-level transceivers to communicate between below-ground and above-ground portions of the network, which may be used in underground utility systems such as combined sewer systems.
