An interface adapter includes a first interface for coupling to a native interface of a first device, a second interface for coupling to a standardized interface of a second device, which is different from the native interface, an adapter memory, and one or more processors coupled to the first interface, the second interface, and the adapter memory. The one or more processors store, at a specific memory location of the adapter memory, a configuration table associated with the first device indicative of: capabilities of, and data variables supported by, the first device, locations of the data variables within a device memory of the first device, sizes of the data variables, and types of the data variables. The one or more processors provide the second device, via the second interface, access to one or more data variables of the data variables based on the configuration table.

Provided are a method and system for managing power grid stability utilising local dynamic load control, the method being performed by a virtual load manager (VLM) comprising one or more processors configured to: configure a plurality of electrical devices connected to a mains supply grid to individually react to grid fluctuations such that the plurality of electrical devices act as one or more virtual load groups each comprising one or more electrical devices with the same response to the grid fluctuations; and manage the individual electrical devices and operating characteristics of the electrical devices in the one or more virtual load groups on behalf of a central grid controller (CGC) of the mains supply grid, wherein each of the electrical devices comprises a local controller configured to provide dynamic control of their respective load in response to fluctuations of the mains supply grid based on the configuration provided by the virtual load manager (VLM).

A streetlight asset module (SAM) is provided including at least one memory block configured to store operating configuration settings of a streetlight associated with the SAM. The SAM is configured to communicate the operating configuration settings of the streetlight to a control and monitoring system (CMS) node coupled to the streetlight. The CMS node is configured to communicate the operating configuration settings to a remote location using a radio communications network. Related streetlights and systems are also provided.

A smart module can include a housing sized for insertion through an opening of a lighting fixture that is exposed by removal of a door of the light fixture. The smart module can also include a smart meter in the housing. The smart meter can be electrically coupled to an input wire and an output wire. The smart module can further include a light sensor external to the housing that is electrically coupled to the smart meter that changes from a closed state to and open state based on detected light. The light sensor can include a threaded portion extending from a base that receives a locking nut. The locking nut and the base portion are sized for affixing the light sensor in an aperture of the door.
