A fuel injector has a seat and at least one seat passage. The seat includes an outer tip surface through which the seat passage extends. Fin structure is provided in the outer tip surface and is constructed and arranged to increase a surface area of the outer tip surface as compared to a surface area of the outer tip surface absent the fin structure. The outer tip surface, including the fin structure, is constructed and arranged to be heated by combustion gases so that the outer tip surface reaches a temperature greater than a temperature that the outer tip surface would reach absent the fin structure, so as to cause evaporation of fuel that contacts the outer tip surface.

A fuel injector has a seat and at least one seat passage. The seat includes an outer tip surface through which the seat passage extends. A non-thermally conducting coating is provided on at least a portion of the outer tip surface and not on surfaces defining the seat passage. The coating is constructed and arranged to be heated by combustion gases so that the outer tip surface reaches a temperature greater than a temperature that the outer tip surface would reach if the coating was not provided so as to cause evaporation of fuel that contacts the outer tip surface, The seat passage is constructed and arranged to not be substantially heated by conduction from the outer tip surface and to be cooled by fuel passing there-through so as to prevent deposits of combustion from accumulating on surfaces defining the seat passage.

Movement of the valve structure between the first and second positions controls the flow of fuel through the seat passages. The seat includes an outer tip surface () through which the least one seat passage extends. A catalytic coating () is provided on at least a portion of the outer tip surface. The coating causes oxidation of fuel on the coating to occur at a temperature lower than if the coating was not provided.

A diesel dosing system for a vehicle includes a control valve () controlling fluid flow to a dosing valve () for supplying fuel directly into an exhaust passage of the vehicle. A system pressure source () feeds the control valve. A shutoff valve () is fluidly connected to the pressure source downstream thereof and to the control valve upstream thereof. The shutoff valve permits bi-directional flow there-through. A connection () is between the shutoff valve and the control valve defining a fluid volume there-between. The shutoff valve permits fluid flow from the system pressure source through the connection and to the control valve during a regeneration phase of the system. Upon engine shutdown and based on fluid pressure in the volume, the shutoff valve opens so that fluid trapped in the volume will communicate with the pressure source thereby reducing the fluid pressure in the volume.

A valve seat () is associated with the valve body and defines an outlet opening (). An armature () is movable with respect to the valve body between a first position and a second position. The armature is associated with a closure member () that opens and closes the outlet opening. An electromagnetic coil () is energizable to provide magnetic flux that moves the armature between the first and second positions to control fuel flow through the outlet opening. A heat exchanger () is provided in the inlet tube and a secondary coil () is energizable to provide a magnetic field to inductively heat the heat exchanger and thus fuel prior to exiting the outlet opening.

An annular wall () extends in a cantilever manner from the main body at the distal end thereof and defines an outer peripheral portion of the valve seat. The interface defines a thermal barrier constructed and arranged to decoupled a body of the injector from exposure to heat in the exhaust gas flow path.

A fuel injector has a housing extending along a longitudinal axis between an inlet and an outlet. A seat assembly is disposed in a body proximate the outlet. The seat assembly includes a flow portion and a securement portion. The flow portion extends along the longitudinal axis between a first surface and an orifice disk retention surface at a first length. The flow portion has a seat orifice extending therethrough and an orifice disk coupled to the orifice disk retention surface so that the orifice plate is aligned in a fixed spatial axial orientation with respect to the flow portion. The securement portion extends along the longitudinal axis away from the orifice disk retention surface at a second length greater than the first length. A method of maintaining a fixed spatial axial orientation and dimensional symmetry of at least one of the seat and orifice disk in the body is disclosed.

A power module for a fuel injection unit is shown and described. The power module includes a housing that has a plurality of first and second housing portions spaced apart along a first axis. Each of the first housing portions is formed to enclose each of a plurality electromagnetic coil subassemblies spaced apart along the first axis. Each of the second housing portions connects the plurality of first housing portions together along the first axis and includes a wall with at least one inflection portion with respect to the first axis. A fuel injector module is also shown and described. The fuel injector module includes the power module and a plurality of valve group subassemblies. Each of the valve group subassemblies is disposed in respective first housing portions of the module and secured thereto via a securement. Various methods relating to the power module and fuel injector module are described.
