Base sheet for roofing assembly

Roofing assembly having a substrate covered with a base sheet which is perforated with a plurality of uniformly spaced clusters of vertical apertures designed to receive an adhesive to bond the base sheet to the substrate. The roofing assembly possesses improved wind uplift resistance.

An improved base sheet for a roofing assembly wherein the base sheet is perforated with a plurality of apertures characterized by non-cylindrical cutouts in the shape of a closed figure or a polygon having at least two sides or boundaries of unequal length which aperture configuration permits strong attachment of the sheet to a substrate without the aid of auxiliary attachment means and without weakening of the base sheet structure.

A device for the spot application of molten asphaltic composition to spot locations comprising a rod of solid, modified bitumen adapted for heating and end thereof. The softened or molten composition at the end can easily and conveniently be delivered to spot locations.

Asphaltic flashing stick

A solar roofing assembly is provided including a roofing membrane, a plurality of insulation blocks disposed as a layer on top of the roofing membrane, a plurality of pavers disposed as a layer on top of the plurality of insulation blocks, and a plurality of photovoltaic cells, each supported on a respective paver. In a second embodiment, each paver has a respective photovoltaic cell bonded to the top surface of the paver and has a respective insulation block bonded to the bottom surface of the paver forming a shop assembled, three-layer unit. The insulation block is also tapered with one side edge being thicker than an opposite side edge so that rain water will run off the top surface of the photovoltaic cell. The three-layer paver units are arranged on top of the roofing membrane, so that the top surfaces of the photovoltaic cells face south or in the direction of increased sun exposure. The insulation blocks have interlocking side surfaces. The joints between the pavers and the insulation blocks permit drainage therethrough of rain water for flow of rain water over the top of the roofing membrane. A method of manufacture is provided, wherein three-layer units of insulation block, paver and photovoltaic cell are made in the shop, and wherein the three-layer units are installed in the field over a field-installed roofing membrane.

Solar roofing assembly

Lighter weight, high strength, built-up roofing (BUR) membranes, systems and process for obtaining same are provided herein. These BUR membranes are made by using an improved ply sheet having uniform ventability and attachment in the overall assembly and superior resistance to wind uplift. The improved structure involves a ply sheet carrying 1/8 inch diameter or larger perforations along its longitudinal border in an area comprising between 1/5 and about 1/2 the width of the ply sheet. The ply sheets here employed for the BUR assembly or membrane have a thickness essentially not in excess of the layer of bonding agent applied over each ply in the assembly.

High-strength built-up roofing using improved ply sheets

This invention pertains to asphaltic sheet sound deadener for use as a vibration damping medium, which can be bonded in place without excessive sag or flow by subjecting the material to 250.degree.-400.degree. F. The main use of this material is in the automotive field, but may be used in other areas such as the appliance and furniture industries. The melt flow properties of the deadener are controlled by the use of ground mica.
