A method for testing for the presence of a trivalent chromium conversion coating on a metal substrate is provided. According to one embodiment, the method comprises contacting a surface of the metal substrate with at least one solvent to generate a test solution, adding an indicator capable of detecting zirconium to the test solution in an amount sufficient to induce a color change of the test solution if zirconium is present in the test solution, and determining whether a color change indicating the presence of the conversion coating occurs in the test solution.

Methods and kit for determining presence of trivalent chromium conversion coating

An apparatus includes a pen. The pen includes a reservoir configured to store a fluid. The pen also includes a tip configured to transfer the fluid from the reservoir onto a surface of an object during writing. The pen further includes a regulator configured to control a flow of the fluid from the reservoir to the tip. The apparatus also includes the fluid stored within the reservoir. The fluid includes a carrier fluid and particles of an X-Ray opaque material.

X-ray ink pen

The disclosure relates to an X-ray opaque coating containing an epoxy resin including an iodinated phenol covalently bonded to a glycidyl ether. Iodinated phenol covalently bonded to a glycidyl ether may include iodinated bisphenol A, such as tetraiodobisphenol A, a glycidyl ether of mono-iodophenol, bis-iodephenol, tri-iodophenol, or combinations thereof. The coating may include an X-ray opaque inorganic filler. The disclosure also relates to an electronic component including a substrate and at last one device coupled to the substrate with an obfuscation layer disposed over the substrate for obscuring the device from an X-ray source. The obfuscation layer may include an X-ray opaque coating. The disclosure additionally relates to- a method of obscuring at least a portion of an electronic component by depositing an obfuscation layer that may include an X-ray opaque coating and a method of forming an X-ray opaque coating.
