A die casting system including a first die having a first cavity-forming surface, a second die having a second cavity-forming surface and is configured to move with respect to the first die along a first axis, and one or more sliding dies that each have a third cavity-forming surface configured to move with respect to and engage with the first die and the second die. The die casting system further including one or more auxiliary die elements removably coupled to the second die and each having a fourth cavity-forming surface. The one or more auxiliary die elements each extending from the second die in a direction perpendicular to the first axis. The die casting system further including a die cavity for forming a metal part between the first, second, third, and fourth cavity-forming surfaces.

High pressure die casting system and method

A differential carrier and ring gear assembly for a vehicle is provided. The assembly comprises a differential carrier, a ring gear, and a weld nugget. The differential carrier comprises an outer surface including a first contact face having a weld end extending to a root end. The first contact face has a first slot formed on a first radial portion thereof. The ring gear is disposed about the differential carrier and comprises an inner side having an inner surface. The inner side has a stop flange abutting the root end. The inner surface comprises a second contact face disposed on the first contact face such that the root end is in abutment with the second end. The first and second hollow channels define a pocket therebetween and the first slot defines a first vent hole for venting. The weld nugget is disposed between the first and second contact faces.

Differential carrier and ring gear assembly

A differential housing includes a body including an outer surface. The body has a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion extending therebetween. A ring gear support member extends outwardly of the body at the second end. A ring gear support surface forms a first section of the intermediate portion. The ring gear support surface defines a first outer diameter of the intermediate portion. A ring gear is mounted to the outer surface of the body. The ring gear includes an inner annular surface having a first region defining a first inner diameter and a second region defining a second inner diameter. The first region includes a sawtooth profile to establish a desired alignment of the ring gear and the body and the second region facilitating an interference fit with the ring gear support surface.

Vehicle differential

An axle carrier includes a housing having an outer surface, an inner surface defining an interior portion, a first axle support member, and a second axle support member. The body is formed from a first material. A gear carrier is arranged within the interior portion. The gear carrier is formed from a second material. The first material comprises a metal matrix composite having a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) that substantially matches a CTE of the second material.

A differential barrel includes a body having a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion extending therebetween. A ring gear support member extends outwardly at the second end. A ring gear support surface forms a first section of the intermediate portion. The ring gear support surface defines a first outer diameter of the intermediate portion. A ring gear alignment surface forms a second section of the intermediate portion. The ring gear alignment surface defines a second outer diameter of the intermediate portion. A ring gear is mounted to the outer surface of the body and includes an inner annular surface including a first region defining a first inner diameter and a second region defining a second inner diameter. The first region establishes an interference fit with the ring gear support surface. The second inner diameter is no more than about 0.05-inches (1.27-mm) greater than the second outer diameter.

A power transfer unit for a front wheel drive (FWD) vehicle includes a housing, a rear wheel drive gear shaft having a first end section configured to be selectively connected to a FWD transmission, a second end section including a gear member, an intermediate drive shaft having a first end configured to be operatively connected to the FWD transmission, a second end configured to be connected to a front wheel, and an intermediate portion having a gear element. A locking member is mounted to one of the rear wheel drive gear shaft and the intermediate shaft. The locking member is selectively shiftable between a first position, wherein the intermediate drive shaft is independent of the rear wheel drive gear shaft, and a second position wherein the gear member is operatively connected to the gear element.

Power transfer unit having an axle locking system

An axle assembly having a differential gear set is provided. The axle assembly includes a housing having an interior portion sized to receive the differential gear set. At least one axle tube extends from a side of the housing. At least one axle is coupled to the differential gear set and extending through the at least one axle tube. A lubrication control member is coupled between the axle and the housing, the lubrication control member having at least one orifice, the orifice defining a lubrication flow path between the interior portion and the at least axle tube.

Rack apparatus for holding and supporting compound bows includes a generally horizontal holding element generally rectangular in configuration and secured to a base element which is of the same general configuration. A high-speed public key cryptosystem is constructed for the encryption and decryption of digital data blocks, the creation and verification of digital signatures, and the creation of verifiable random number sequences. The encryption and decryption techniques employ a public key K constructed as the matrix product of a randomly generated nonsingular matrix M, and a rectangular template matrix T having row identifiers imbedded therein for selecting rows of a matrix M-1 that participate during decryption. Encrypting of a plaintext block, is achieved by converting the block to a nonlinear row selector code used to select rows of K. Columns of the selected rows are then added modulo-2 to produce a block if ciphertext. Deciphering the ciphertext is an iterative process wherein successive row identifiers and plaintext bits are unmasked by selecting rows of matrix M-1 in accordance with the bit states of the ciphertext, and adding columns of the selected rows modulo-2 to produce an intermediate block of data containing 2 plaintext bits and a row identifier used to select a row of key T, which is then added modulo-2 to the intermediate block to reveal the next two bits of plaintext and the next row identifier. A public key consisting of a single, noninvertible, binary matrix and a private key consisting of a pair of binary matrices, one or which is singular and the other nonsingular.

Public key encryption and decryption circuitry and method

A public-key system for encoding, or encrypting, digital data wherein at least two singular matrices of binary bits provide separate encrypting factors. Each matrix is a product of a common singular matrix and a differing non-singular matrix. These encrypting matrices are loaded in separate memory formats. A Vernam or one-time key consisting of blocks or sets of randomly-generated binary bits are loaded into an input shift register, and the state of each stage is coupled as an enabling signal to gates which read out rows of each of the two stored matrices. Groups of outputs from gates serving each of the matrices are combined via column arranged, exclusively-OR gates fed, in parallel, to a shift register. The output of one shift register forms an encrypted decrypting signal. The output of the other shift register is exclusively-ORred in the manner of a one-time key with the binary encoded plaintext to be encrypted. As thus encrypted, it is transmitted with the decrypting signal to the addresses. There, the decrypting signal is transformed by appropriate private-key inverses of the invertible matrix component of the encrypting signal, and then, as modified, it is exclusively-ORred with the text encrypted signal whereby the text is decrypted.

Polygraphic encryption-decryption communications system

A system for encoding, or encrypting, digital data wherein an invertible matrix of binary bits provides the encrypting factor or key, this invertible matrix being loaded in a memory. Blocks or sets of binary bits of data, a string of serially appearing binary bits, to be encoded are sequentially loaded into discrete, ordered stages of an input shift register, and the state of each stage is coupled as an enabling signal to sets of gates which read out the binary states of rows of the matrix configured memory. Groups of outputs from gates, conforming to columns of the matrix memory, are fed to an exclusive OR gate for each group. Then, the outputs of the exclusively OR gates for several columns of the matrix are loaded into discrete stages of an output register. The combination of the states of the output register together provide a block or polygraphic encryption, or decryption, of the binary data supplied the input register. The states of the output register are then clocked out in serial form.
